The Separation view that has God the Father abandoning His Sonon the cross has been weighed and found wanting
Definition of the TrinityDefinition of the Trinity
III. In the unity of the Godhead there be three Persons of one substance, power, and eternity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. The Father is
of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son.
Westminster Confession of Faith chapter 2 section 3.
There is no room here for 3-6 hours of separationbetween the Father and Son. It plainly states they were of
one substance for all eternity.

What happened to the ETERNAL UNDIVIDED Trinity? Also, proponentsof the separation view never state whether the Holy Spiritseparated Himself from the Son.
During the crucifixion theFather allegedly couldn’tstomach sin so He brokeaway for 3-6 hours.

If you believe the Trinity stayed together and that Jesus’ human nature experienced abandonment, there are still several problems/questions. I don't know how "experiencing the emotion of abandonment" can be meaningful unless either of those two cases are true (actually being abandoned or actually failing to have faith that one is not abandoned), but I'm willing to allow that someone might find that kind of reasoning is preferable to giving up a long held, popular idea that makes one feel like Jesus really knows what I feel like.

Read all of Psalm 22 especially verse 24 “For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him
but has listened to his cry for help.” The “He” (the Father) in the verse is clearly different from the “afflicted one” (who is Jesus).
John 16:32 "But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is
with me.
I do not believe John 16:32 is merely talking about the arrest of Jesus in the Garden.
