We are called to devote our entire being to God. But if we’re honest with ourselves, we know our commitments, relationships, and “life” can get in the way. Moss collecting?! What????

We need 20-something crates of moss for our Putz.

Join us on Saturday, October 28th at 9 a.m. in the church

parking lot. The rain date is Oct 29th. We will carpool and

caravan to the secret moss collecting spot. The drive is

beautiful, the hotdogs taste better in the woods than

anywhere else, and you will discover how many types of

moss there are in Pennsylvania!

Make this a yearly tradition. You will not regret it!

Pastor Dan, Elders and member of Edgeboro,

Thank all for prayers and expressed recognition of my nephew, Todd MacMurtrie. Also, thank you for prayers for Jim Bowen, son-in-law, who continues with back pain and looking ahead to a nerve block. Also many thanks to certain individuals who helped me get started on my cluttered home and yard work. You are all quite unique and special. The Lord’s blessing on each and everyone of you. He has blessed me greatly through each one who has encouraged progress.

Lovingly in Christ’s Service Nancy Remaly

Bethlehem Area Moravians ANNUAL PICNIC

Sunday, September 10: 4 - 7 pm Advent Moravian Church

3730 Jacksonville Road

Bethlehem, PA 18017

Bring a chair, bring a friend!

Fellowship opportunities! Games for the kids!

Live music by The Edge Band! Worship with your BAM brothers

and sisters! Labyrinth walks!

Sponsored by the Bethlehem Area Mora-vians (BAM) Ministries Committee and BAM Congregations (Advent, Central,

College Hill, East Hills, Edgeboro, Esperanza for Bethlehem & West Side)

Each year, Bethlehem Area Moravian (BAM) congregations work together to plan the Annual BAM Picnic.

This opportunity to connect with brothers and sisters from other congregations is made possible by the leadership of the BAM Ministries Committee, a group of BAM clergy and lay leaders who meet regularly and work together to de-velop a sense of shared ministry among our congregations. Past fellowship events include the annual Knoebels trip and Snow Tubing at Blue Mountain. The BAM Ministries Committee also supports shared service ministry efforts, such as the March Mission Madness event held this spring, where nearly 300 members of Lehigh Valley congrega-tions packed 32,000 meals for those in need in Haiti; the Lehigh Valley Moravian Youth Network, working to connect Moravian youth for fellowship and service opportunities; the Backpacks of Hope program, organized by College Hill, to help feed the children of Esperanza for Bethlehem; and the Join We All Refugee Lovefeast held in February, con-necting people of various faith traditions in a spirit of hospitality and mutual fellowship.

Together, we remember and live into the words of our Moravian Covenant for Christian Living: “We are called into a Christian fellowship by the Lord Jesus Christ, according to the eternal purpose of God the Father (Ephesians 3:11) by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:18-21), and as members of Christ’s Body, the Church, to serve all people byproclaiming the Gospel and witnessing to our faith by word and deed.”

Ice Cream Festival 2017

Even though the Festival was on a Wednesday, PEOPLE STILL CAME!!! Thank you for changing tradition to accommodate the Messman’s desire to see the Great American Eclipse. (Which was awesome; ask us about the eclipse sometime.)

Sunny, 80 degrees, light breeze, no mosquitoes...the evening was idyllic. And many people donated their time or money:

Bakers and cookers Set up/prep group Clean up crew Ice cream man Tent providers Kitchen Queen Servers Cashiers Money counter Donators Sellers Flower arrangers Balloon blower uppers Sign pounder inners Sound system man Music man

Our Ice Cream Festival is a great tradition. Thank you for making it happen. See you next year! Bring a friend.

Moravian Mints

Imagine it is Christmastime again. It’s not hard as it seems to come faster every year. You want to get your neighbor a little something for helping you shovel that last wicked batch of snow. You think immediately of the delicious Moravian mints your church sells. How can you help, you ask?

Easy! We need stirrers, pourers, meal makers and those amazing ribbon tiers to make it happen. We need an earnest commitment from those wanting to keep this great tradition alive.

If you can commit to any amount of time please let Marcia Horning know through a phone call or email. Without a commitment from enough helpers, it cannot happen. Please prayerfully consider helping out to make it an amazing year for mints! Marcia Horning home phone 610.691.3209 or cell phone 610.657.0207

Board of Trustees’ July Meeting Highlights The joint boards will be nominating individuals for both the Trustees and Elders as well as for synod.

Please see any board member if you may be interested in learning more about these opportunities to serve.

Treasurers report reviewed and approved by Trustees. Giving is down compared to last year.

Stage curtains need to be fireproofed per city inspector. Materials were obtained to do so.

New Look landscaping will be removing and trimming overgrown shrubs around the church and mulching. They will also landscape the parsonage and repair the deteriorated curbing.

Trustees will be performing a yearly walk through inspection of the parsonage to keep up with any repairs and maintenance needed Ask yourself – Are you a faithful giver? We understand that due to work, vacations, inclement

weather and sickness it may not be possible to attend church every Sunday. The work of the church continues even when you can’t be here. Thank you for considering becoming faithful in your giving. And if you are already a faithful giver – thanks!

Highlights of August Elders meeting

A motion was made and passed to approve the wedding of Stephen Kish and Katy Hankins on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Pastor Dan will officiate.

Elders planned the leadership of the August 20 service while Pastor Dan is away. They based the theme of the service, “Sharing Our Faith,” on the devotions for the evening led by Johanna Heft and the subsequent discussion by group members.

A motion was made and passed to approve the Nepal Ministry as the Joyful Noise offering on October 1. Joshua Pradhan, a Moravian college student from Nepal, will lead the Children’s Message.

Elders scheduled Elder of the Day for the month of October.

A motion was made and passed to approve the following new members: Ron and Carol Freyman, Christine Verrastro, Scott and Angela Rader, Dustin and Nancy Duro. Date of installation will be a Sunday in September to be determined.

Putz Christmas Room Alert! 2017 As the chairperson of the Christmas Room, I would like to first send out a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped in all stages of the Christmas Room before, during, and after the Putz season 2016!! The success of the Christmas Room is due to your efforts. Secondly, thank you to all the people who donated beautiful handmade items and also the attic treasure donations. We had a very busy and successful year!!! At this time I will again be asking for your help in making the operation of the Christmas Room donations go smoothly for 2017. I am limiting all attic treasure donations to be brought in the month of Oct only and placed on the stage with your name and labelled Attic treasures. Attic treasure donations will not be accepted after Oct. 31st. This will give myself and volunteers time to sort and price all items in a timely fashion for the Putz opening Dec. 1st. As for all handmade craft donations, these will be accepted up to and including the Putz Raising date Sat. Nov. 11th. At this time, we need your help in “raising the Putz,” helping with Christmas Room and Fellowship Hall set up, and making crafts. The day will begin at 10am and lunch will be provided. I look forward to a wonderful Putz season with our Edgeboro family and the community! Sincerely, Megan Weikert
