The Economy of the War

• Up to 2008, the government had spent over $522 billion on the war.

• The amount of the Iraq budget in 2007 alone was $138 billion. With this the government could have provided Medicaid-level health insurance for all the 45 million Americans who are uninsured.

Economy Continued• The government could have hired 30,000 elementary

and secondary school teachers along with build 400 schools for them.

• They could have provided basic home weatherization for about 1.6 million homes, which would reduce the amount of energy used by about 30 percent.

• There were about 1 million jobs that were lost because of the war.

Statistics of the War

• Around 4,481 U.S. troops have died, and around 32,195 U.S. troops wounded.

• Over 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed.• Iran has strengthened, along with the U.S. military

weakening.• The total economic cost of the war to date is at least

$3.7 trillion and could reach as high as $4.4 trillion.

Troops Coming Home

• President Barrack Obama announced on Friday October 21, 2011 that by the end of the year all troops will come home from the war in Iraq.

• Only about 150 troops, out of the 39,000, will stay to assist in arms sales, and the rest will be home by December 31.

Conspiracy of the War

• George Bush and the Pentagon wanted to wage war against Iraq even before the first day of the Persian Gulf crisis.

• It is believed that the war was to redistribute the markets and resources of the Middle East.

• It is said to be an imperialistic war.
