ECKANKAR is a worldwide religion known to many as an ancient teaching. The ECK, or the Holy Spirit, works on our own behalf to expand our consciousness and help us see God in our everyday lives. Harold Klemp, the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master, is the leader of ECKANKAR.
The Gift of Service
“When you can come into agreement within yourself that it doesn’t matter where you serve God, then you will have reached the highest degree of truth and wisdom that is available anywhere.” (Harold Klemp, The Drumbeat of Time, Mahanta Transcripts, Book 10, p. 211). “Service to God doesn’t mean you have to work yourself into a state of exhaustion. Sometimes that happens, but usually life works in cycles. There are high periods of activity, and there are rest points in eternity. If we know this principle, we can work with it and use it to maintain our health.” (Harold Klemp, The Golden Heart, Mahanta Transcripts, Book 4, p. 18). “It is unworthy to impede another, whose call has been to serve God, with personal love and other emotional charges.” (The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, Book 2, p. 130).

The ECKANKAR Center of San Jose offers a welcoming, interactive environment for adults and youth to discover the spiritual benefits hidden in our life experiences. Beginning this month, the Sound of Soul and Spiritual Discussions are offered using the Zoom app. The purpose of these spiritual duties is to help Soul make contact with the Light and Sound of God, and meet the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master.
Experience HU, the Sound
of Soul The HU is an easy spiritual exercise anyone can do. The benefits of singing HU each day or even silently to yourself are numerous. You are welcome to exerperience this for yourself, starting this month. Monday, July 13, at 7:30 p.m., the ECKANKAR Center of San Jose offers a Sound of Soul. Spiritual Discussions A
Every Saturday in July Spiritual Discussions are offered. The purpose of the Spiritual Discussion is to bring one closer to the Light and Sound of God, but not without a few surprises along the way. Each Host is a trained teacher in ECKANKAR, who is there less to teach, but more, to make it easy to share personally meaningful experiences with a spiritual focus. In each Discussion, you will also have an opportunity to try a spiritual exercise, HU, as mentioned above. “HU calms and restores, because it sets your thoughts upon the highest spiritual ideal.” (Harold Klemp, The Spiritual Life, p. 69.)

“Some people never recognize the blessing they receive. Others may look back and realize they’ve had a gift of healing of some sort. Maybe something has changed at work to make their life better. But it depends upon the individual—how conscious you are. “A spiritual exercise to begin recognizing your gifts is this: Sing HU quietly to yourself or out loud. Look at the obstacles in your life that you think are stumbling blocks. Imagine them becoming stepping-stones. How are they teaching you about yourself? Open yourself and gain greater awareness of this as you sing HU. “The teachings of ECK are all about God’s love for you. HU is an ancient name for God that is the key to your secret worlds. Once you learn to use this key, you will find a blending of your inner and outer worlds. You’ll find yourself filling with love.”

Letter from the Editor Dear Reader: Your spiritual survival as a part of God is the main concern of the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master, Harold Klemp. The rest is icing on the cake. It’s true that after this pandemic, we will not be the same. But then again, what spiritual being stays the same? ECKANKAR is the Path of Spiritual Freedom. This freedom is given out equally to every Soul. During difficult times, it is all the more important to stay balanced and not get bogged down by the social issues of the day. We do this by doing the spiritual exercises of ECK and chanting HU. “The HU song is a purifier. It will uplift and strengthen you in wisdom and awareness.” (Harold Klemp, The Sound of Soul, p. 23) If you look, you can spot those Souls that have this awareness, a wider perspective. Eckankar—The Path of Spiritual Freedom
Eckankar teaches that there is an audible life current known as the ECK, or Holy Spirit, that connects each of us with the heart of God. We can experience the ECK as Light and Sound.
