kCuraA self-titled “geek turned businessman,” kCura’s founder and CEO, Andrew
Sieja, has always recognized the importance of great software. Beginning
as a small software consulting firm in 2001, kCura has since grown to
be a market-leading e-discovery software company with more than 600
inquisitive team members globally who are passionate about technology,
and are continuously finding new ways to make our software more flexible,
more scalable, and easier to use.
RelativityWe decided to focus on e-discovery software after a fortunate consulting engagement with a law firm, in which
Andrew saw the need for an easy-to-use document review application. We found a place in the industry with
Relativity, which helps corporations, law firms, and government agencies solve diverse data challenges. Since joining
the industry as a review platform, we’ve grown our product into a comprehensive e-discovery stack, which helps
users easily search, analyze, and act on electronic evidence. The Relativity community—supported by the services
and expertise of our 120+ channel partners—plays a fundamental role in contributing to the success of our platform
through continuous feedback and enthusiastic involvement.
OUR STORYWhat is e-Discovery?
Electronic discovery—or
e-discovery—is the challenging
process of searching and analyzing
electronic data during a legal
proceeding or investigation. As data
volumes grow exponentially and
new data sources are introduced
every day, legal teams have more to
sort through and need an efficient
way to collect, search, analyze,
and produce electronic evidence.
4
Our MissionOrganize data. Discover the truth. Act on it.
Our VisionSimplify and accelerate how the world conducts e-discovery by
bringing the entire process and community together in one open,
flexible, connected platform.

Andrew Sieja forms kCura as a software
consultancy and we purchase our
unassuming green couch from a friend
of a friend.
Relativity becomes an open platform
for users to extend the capabilities of
the software.
We bring e-discovery on the go with our launch of
Binders, a mobile app for Relativity.
The first version of Relativity is
released after a fortunate consulting engagement with a
law firm.
Our community grows—we hold the first Relativity Fest
in Chicago and start our corporate giving
program, kCura Gives.
Relativity is being used by more than 100,000
users worldwide and now offers tools from legal hold
and collection through production.
We switch our focus to e-discovery,
becoming a pure software company.
Relativity Assisted Review is launched
to amplify the efforts of case teams’
manual review.
kCura receives a $125 million minority investment
from Iconiq Capital and announces the Relativity
Academic Partner Program.
The Relativity logo is born on a whiteboard and introduced to our
5,000 users.
We announce Relativity Processing,
helping customers keep their data in one
system all the way through review.
kCura acquires Content Analyst, an award-winning text analytics firm based in
Virginia and releases Relativity ECA and Investigation and
RelativityOne.
OUR HISTORY
6
A court-ordered deadline to produce data for a
proceeding is fast-approaching, and a legal team
still has to review 1TB of documents and emails
to find the documents relevant to the case at
hand.
A whistleblower informs HR and their compliance
team about rumors of fraud conducted by a
group of employees—but is there even enough
data to warrant a full investigation?
A plaintiff firm preparing for a class-action lawsuit
needs to calculate hundreds of award scenarios
and then communicate them to stakeholders
across the country.

Using analytics and visualizations, the team quickly understands,
organizes, and prioritizes their data. Relativity’s machine learning
capabilities amplify the team’s decisions on what’s relevant and
what’s not—so they’re able to get through the data and produce the
required files in record time.
The legal department uses Relativity to collect data—such as email,
Word documents, and chat messages—and a compliance analyst
assesses it to find and understand the key facts of the allegation.
After spinning up visualizations to examine the collection, the team is
able to assess the risk and costs of pursuing legal action and prepare
a strategy for an internal review and forensics investigation.
To avoid exporting data from Relativity into a different system,
the legal team works with internal developers to build a custom
application for tracking settlements. By keeping the data in the
platform, they can link new settlement scenarios to existing case
documents and exhibits. They then design a workflow that regularly
generates and sends reports to external stakeholders.
What is Relativity?
It’s a software platform
designed to help legal teams
search, analyze, and act on
their most important data to
meet a variety of needs—from
litigation to investigations
to case strategy and
management. With volumes
of data growing exponentially
and new data sources
introduced every day, Relativity
is an efficient way to manage
data for legal purposes.
Used by more than 13,000 unique organizations, Relativity reduces risks and helps control costs associated with managing
and analyzing electronic data. Below are just a few examples of what Relativity is used for every day.

How Do We Give Back?
Our community outreach
program works to ensure that
youth in our community—
especially those with limited
resources—have access to
the technology, equipment,
and training they need to
be successful in today’s
work environment.
“Our schools have done tremendous things with the
Wired to Learn grant, which has improved access to
the cutting-edge technology that is vital to a well-
rounded 21st century education.”
– Dr. Janice K. Jackson, CPS Chief Education Officer
KCURA GIVES
Since kCura Gives started in 2010, we’ve provided more than $1.5 million through our technology grant program and
other giving initiatives.
Geek Grant
“Because of the Geek Grant, we are able to offer access
to computers and the Internet so our clients can do their
homework, research jobs, prep for GEDs, and explore
college options. The Geek Grant is helping us bridge the
digital divide our clients face.”
– S. Bianca Berkhia, La Casa Norte
Community Partnerships
“kCura was the first organization to believe in us.
They provided our first real source of funding, which
not only helped us get up and running, but allowed
our students to experience field trips that they still
talk about to this day.”
– January Miller, Embarc
Volunteer Program
“kCura Gives makes it really easy for me to volunteer
and give back to the community. Students thoroughly
enjoy the challenges of the basic computer
programming we teach them, and almost always
express interest in advancing their learning.”
- Krishna Aerabati, kCura
