The twenty-five (25) new mentors that were recruited to DREAM continued to shadow veteran mentors, getting to know the mentors and kids and awaiting their program assignment while learning about DREAM and mentoring. Two mentor/mentee pairs traveled to Camp DREAM in Fletcher, Vermont for a second Winter Adventure Camp session! This session was an overnight winter camping session designed for matches to extend their relationships, engage in constructive risk taking and enjoy the outdoors. Activities included exploring on the ice of Metcalf Pond, sledding, snowshoeing and hiking in the snow, snowballs and hot chocolate. Five pairs from all over the state of Vermont participated and enjoyed a weekend of winter camping. High Adventure planning for the teen’s summer trip continues! Mentors organized a community dinner at a local church and participation was high! Children and parents were in attendance and mentors prepared dinner. An opportunity for feedback was provided and all agreed the program was operating well.
