The Knights of Columbus will again blanket the Indiana area with carnations
on Mothers Day weekend. The carnation project brings ways for brother
Knights and their families to support mothers-to-be, to celebrate the mothers in
their lives, and to remember and honor their own beloved mothers.
Thanks to the generous support of The Flower Gallery, the brothers of Fr.
McNelis Council No. 1481 will have an ample supply of carnations available.
The committee, led by Chairman Br. Bob Dalecki, is taking orders for sup-
plies of carnations to be delivered to restaurants and other organizations for
their patrons on May 11 and 12.
Carnation committee members will deliver donated flowers to personal care
and nursing homes in the area to make sure no mothers are forgotten on their
day. And the Knights will sell carnations following the Masses at St. Bernard of
Clairvaux, St. Thomas More and Church of the Resurrection parishes for our
mothers to enjoy.
Finally, the council will donate proceeds from the carnation campaign to the
pro-life My Choice women’s pregnancy center in Indiana to help expectant
mothers to bring healthy babies into the world.
Your help is needed to sort, package, deliver and sell the carnations to make
the event a success. Contact Br. Dalecki by phone at 724.840.2829 or email
[email protected] today.

As part of our Pro-Life programming, I would like for our Council to revive
our food collection in support of the St. Thomas More University Parish Food
Pantry.
Not only can this can help us to meet
the programming requirements and meet
eligibility for a possible rebate from Su-
preme council, it also gives us the oppor-
tunity to practice our corporal works of
mercy by feeding the hungry within our
Indiana community.
I ask that you please bring non-
perishable food items to our council meet-
ings on the second Wednesday of every month.

Dear Brother Knights, Come let us adore Him! St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish holds Eucharistic Adoration from noon
to 7 p.m. every Tuesday and on the first Friday of each month, from 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. In upholding our sacred traditions and glorifying the
presence of the Eucharistic Christ, the exposed Blessed Sacrament must never be left alone. We have a schedule of hourly time slots to assure
continuous adoration, yet at times, some people end up sacrificing two or more hours so that our Lord is not left alone. As Brother Knights, I ask that you please consider
becoming the guardian of Christ during an hour long time slot that best suits your schedule. Time slots that are in most need of guardians are 4
to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays; 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and midnight to 1 a.m., 1 to 2 a.m., 2 to 3 a.m. and 3 to 4 a.m. Fridays. If you are not able to commit to an hour time slot each week, I still ask
that you prayerfully consider spending some personal time with God! Those Brother Knights who are interested may phone me at
724.388.7188 or email me at [email protected] to schedule your time to Guard Jesus!

Prayer of Reparation
for Roe vs. Wade
Since the start of the year, our council leaders have closed the monthly offi-cers meetings by asking for God’s mercy on our land for the sin of abor-tion. To advance the Knights’ pro-life mission, please consider adding this to your prayers.
God and Father of Life,
You have created every person,
And have opened the way for each of us to
have eternal life.
We life in the shadow of death.
Tens of millions of
Your children have been killed,
Thanks to the
Row vs Wade decision legalizing abortion.
Father, have mercy on us.
Heal our land,
And accept our offering of
prayer and penance.
In Your love for us,
Turn back the scourge of abortion.
May each of us exult in hearts full of hope,
And hands full of mercy,
And work together to build a culture of life.

The Fr. McNelis Council No. 1481 will present one of the council’s most prestigious honors as the frater-
nal year comes to a close. The Knight of the Year committee has presented three nominees for the 2019
Knight of the Year Award.
“Our nominees have distinguished themselves by their service to the Knights of Columbus — our brother-
hood as a whole and our council in particular — and, very importantly, their service to our community, their
families and our church,” said Br. Tom Bresnahan, the committee chairman. “We regret that we do not have
three awards to present, as all the nominees are deserving of this recognition.”
The members will cast a secret ballot on May 8. The committee will announce the winner on June 12 and
the council will publish details in the June newsletter.
In order by seniority, the 2019 Knight of the Year nominees are:
