The Engineer submitted his Report of works completed or in progress during the past fortnight, together with Snbsidiary Reports , regarding the flooding of Newman st., Properties , and damage done to this Council's ttChevrolet" Truck, through some person or persons unkno m placing sugar in the Oil Sump. A:fter a general discussion on the dastardly atte~p to injure this Council's lorry, Alderman Delve moved. that the Reports be ~Received ' Seconded by Alderman Solomon, and carried.

The Health Inspector submitted his Report , as contained on folios. 34/5 of the Health In~pector' s Report Book , and .Alderman Du.nshea. moved that the Report be "Received", and the applieation mentioned in paragraph 3, be granted . Seconded by Alderman Delve, and carried.

His Worship the Mayor, (AlCierman F. A. New.nham,LL.B.), and Aldermen Bugler, De~e, Goddard, Solomon, Roberts, Ryan, Pawley, Stocks, Dunn, Dunshea, and Fleming.

His Worship the Mayor intimated that the special business for which the Meeting, he.d been calleCi, was to consid.er the representations made by the Deputation from the Redfern Co~cil at the last Ordinary Meeting of the Council, relative to the charge made for incinerating the garbage received from Redfern Council, be ing reduce~.

Alderman Dunshea moved that the Council do now resolve into " Committee of the Whole", for the purpose of fully ~onsidering this matter. SeconCied. by Alderman Pawleyt and carried.. (Alderman Bugler requested that his vote in the negative be recordeCL. J o . Upon resuming Council it was report that while in "Committee of the 'lhole 11 , the Council had fUlly considered the request made by the ReCifern Council for a reduction in the charge made by this Council for the incineration o~ garbage received f~m Redfern, and now recommends that the Redfern Council be informeCL that, without prejud.ice to the terms and conditions of the Agreement entered into between the Councils of the 1funicipalities of Redfern anQ Newtown, for the incineration of garbage, dated the 3rd day of .April, 1922, and subject to the conditions mentioned

. in the Newt~wn Council's letter dated the 26th October, 1932, relative to the minimum quantity of garbage to be supplied each week etc., this Council is prepared to incinerate the garbage received from the ReQ~ern Council at a reduced r r- te of 8/-, (Eight Shillings) per ton, provided the existing Contract between both Councils is extended for a further p.eriod o:f seven years".

Amendment moved by Alderman Ryan, that the letter be "'Received'", and the writer inf'ormed that as this Council is of the opinion th t three Services per week are necessary in this denself populated Mllnioipality to safe­guard the health and comfort of the Residents, no exception can be made in connection with the Camdenville Public Sohool Residence. Seconded by Alderman Roberts.

Under this heading, Alderman Fleming moved;- "Tb,at this Council request the Minister ror DSEducation to allow the School-grounds to remain open at other than School-hours, at the

Kindergarten Schools in Australia st., and Norfolk St., and also at the Camdenville, North­Newtown, and Enmore Schools, for Playgrounds for the Children, as there are so few Playing-areas within the Municipality pf Newtown; rhe School-Children to be taught to take care of the trees etc., so that no harm will be done to the Education Department's property.n . Seconded by .Alderman Solomon, ~d carried.

Alderman Delve asked whether there had been, any alteratipn made in this Council's Employees Wages, as a result of the recent Basic Wage reduction.? The Mayor replied in the negative.

Al~e:rman Solomon moved, "That a letter be forwarded to l!r. D. Benjamin, Managing Director of Sweet Bros. Ltd, congratulating him upon the prompt and emphatic protest which he had entered against the recent basic wage reduction, and in advocating an increase in the Ba~ic Wage." Seconded by Alderman Ryan, and carried.

Alderman Ilunshea enquired if any ~ther reply was to hand from the Electric Light & P.s. Corpn.Ltd, regarding Mr. Benjamin's compllil.int concerning excessive char-ges for eleotrici ty at Sweet Bros. Ltd. ? His Worship the Mayor replie~ in the negative.

Alderman Fleming asked that the two seats in Missenden Road be placed further apart, i.e., one near Carillon Avenue, and. one near Campbell St., and Alderman Bugler asked that the seats in Hollis Park be placed in proper repair. Hie Worship the Mayor intimated that he would have these matters attended to.

Alderman ~nn · enquired if it was necessary for Street Collectors to obtain Council's permission. ? His Worship the ' Mayor intimated that under the provisions of Ordinance 61 ~ person,or Association which proposed to sell or collect within the Metropolitan Area shall first obtain the consent, of the Council, otherwise such collection would be illegal.

Alderman Delve asked if phis Council had any control over the, ~ousie Housie s" which ~re operating in S~ops in Newtown.? His Worship the Mayor intimated that these Entertainments were controlled by the Chief Secretary's Department, from whom permission must first be obtained.

Alderman Pawley moved that ' the Council do now resolve into ~committee of the Whole", for • the purpose of considering certain alleg~tions relative to proceedings at this Counbil's
