Rotary clubs in the Northern Suburbs (Elizabeth, Salisbury, Playford and Mawson Lakes) are all incredibly conscious that young people are the future of our community and yet so many of our young people are struggling for opportunities.

Rotary clubs are strong supporters and deliverers of youth programs in SA including:

· RYPEN (3 day youth camp for 14-18 year olds)

· RYLA (Week long residential youth leadership camp 18-25 year olds)

· Rotaract (like young Rotary club’s which meet fortnightly, for 18-30 year olds)

· National Youth Science Forum (Week long science camp interstate)

· RYDA (1 day driver awareness / accident impact awareness program

for year 10s or 11s)

· Youth awards at local school graduations

· Sponsors of local programs like “Midnight Basketball”

· International Youth exchange (overseas)

“Young people in the northern suburbs deserve every opportunity they can get, youth unemployment continues to be a challenge – hopefully through engagement with Rotary Youth programs it can be a small hand up helping our young people” said Rick Henke, President of Rotary Club of Salisbury.

Most Rotary clubs raise funds to invest in youth programs which would range from $5,000pa to $15,000pa per club.

For more information about youth programs check out http://www.rotaryyouth9500.org.au or speak to your local clubs youth services team leader.

Have you thought about joining Rotary as a way to help your local youth? Speak to a Rotarian at the business breakfast. Rotary has changed and is now more flexible.
