It has been an exciting year for a number of reasons, and with this last issue of The Celebration Journal, Bulgari wishes to thank all the people from all over the world who have celebrated our 125 th anniversary with us, and invite them to continue together along a path that transcends the bounds of space and time. We would like to carry on the celebration of the “remarkable saga that spans epochs and international borders, tracing the course of that taste for innovation and detail that has become an unmistakable style in its own right”, to say it in the words of the curator of the retrospective dedicated to Bulgari that was held this year at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, one of the largest such jewellery exhibitions ever staged. The initiative was a great success, and continues to be. In the coming months the exhibition will bring the history and glamour of Bulgari to several world capitals, allowing admirers from other nations to know and appreciate the jewels, watches and other precious objects created by Bulgari over more than a century, the majority of which belong to private collectors and have therefore never been shown in public. This past year of celebration has also been distinguished by the support of Bulgari and its customers for the “Rewrite the Future” campaign of Save the Children, the world’s largest independent organization for the protection and promotion of children’s rights. This important initiative on behalf of the less fortunate has been, for Bulgari and its clients, a rewarding discovery of how compassion can be translated into commitment and concrete results. During the course of the campaign, The Celebration Journal has aimed to keep you informed not only of the goals achieved by “Rewrite the Future” and by other initiatives in support of Save the Children, but of everything that might interest readers about Bulgari. There have been articles on the Greco-Roman origins of the brand; on the extraordinary story and enduring values of the founder, Sotirio Bulgari; on the timeless icons and one- of-a-kind masterpieces of Bulgari production. The origins of Jasmin Noir, the “boisée” floral fragrance fromBulgari, are rooted in the Italian jeweller’s tradition of prestigeand luxury. Jasmin Noir is a sophisticated and captivatingcreation, the latest chapter in the fascinating history of classicBulgari fragrances. Jasmin Noir is an imaginary flower. Pure, tiny and delicate, itreleases a warm and sensual perfume at dusk, revealing ahypnotic and mysterious soul. At first scent, Jasmin Noirpresents the tenderness of gardenia petals and bubbly notesof green sap, then slips gently into the profound sensualityof Sambac jasmine. This combines unexpectedly with avelvety chord of satin almond and becomes the luminousand provocative heart of the fragrance, the mystery of anirresistible temptation composed of the deep and intense notesof precious woods and the warm tones of tonka beans. The black and gold of the flacon is the visual counterpart to thedepth and luminosity of elegant, unmistakable fragrance.Wonderfully sensual and feminine, Jasmin Noir eau de parfumand matching bath products blossom in the rich imagination ofthe woman for whom they were created.

In order to expand support for Save the Children’s“Rewrite the Future” campaign, an initiative that hasprofound implications for all of us, Bulgari has organizeda series of events in the world’s major cities. The “Rewritethe Future” campaign, whose supporters include a growingnumber of celebrities from the worlds of art, sport andentertainment, seeks to ensure a better future througheducation for children who live in areas of the world tornby war. To date, the campaign has significantly improvedthe lives of ten million of these children. High-profile events were organized over the past year –and there are still more to come – to present the collectionof high jewellery and horology designed expressly for thecharity auction scheduled for December 8th in New York. After its official public debut on May 20th, the collectiontravelled the world: Rome, Tokyo, Dubai, Hong Kong,Beijing, Sydney, Melbourne, and additional stops in theUS, Spain and the United Kingdom. These exclusiveevents served to show the world the absolute importance ofthe problems addressed by “Rewrite the Future”, as well asto demonstrate our ability to work together to contributein a concrete way to resolving these problems. Hundreds

of guests, including celebrities, clients and journalists, joined together in solidarity with a shared mission. Forsome of these events, such as the one at the Today ArtMuseum in Beijing, photographer Fabrizio Ferri shotportraits of the numerous local celebrities who have comeout in support of the initiative. The jewellery and watchcollection travelled along with a line of silver jewelscreated specially for “Rewrite the Future”, on sale for 290euros, 50 of which go directly to this most worthycampaign. During the recent 66th Venice Film Festival, many starswore the jewels and watches that will go on auction atChristie’s New York on December 8th, Bulgari’s ultimatecontribution to the campaign – an auction that willhopefully become a competition of generosity among theparticipants. To strengthen its support for Save the Children (see theprevious page for details), on December 8th, 2009, Bulgariwill put up for auction at Christie’s New York anextraordinary collection: eleven pieces of high jewelleryand seven masterpieces of the watchmaker’s art, theproceeds from which will go entirely to the international“Rewrite the Future” campaign, whose goal is to ensure aquality education to millions of children living in warzones. The jewels and watches that comprise the collection, created expressly for the auction, reflect Bulgari’sdistinctive taste, attention to detail and commitment toquality. The sense of volume, the love of linear andsymmetrical forms, the references to art and architecture –all of these combine to create a stylistically cohesive andunmistakable collection. Many of the motifs – the ancientcoins mounted on gold jewels, the bejewelled serpent, the unusual combinations of colours and materials, thegenerous use of cabochon-cut coloured stone – havebecome Bulgari icons over the years. It is difficult to capture in words just how spectacular thesejewels and watches are, which is why we invite you to viewthe collection online at BVLGARI.COM. It starts with anecklace of coloured sapphires and diamonds of suchsumptuous splendour as to recall the royal jewellery ofancient Egypt. The variety and harmony of the colours andgems make it a magnificent example of Bulgari style. Nextis a gorgeous “carpet” bracelet with cushion-cut sapphiresof different colours, the contours of which are definedby a sequence of decorative elements in yellow gold, illuminated by a pavé of diamonds. Another noteworthypiece is a ring designed around a purple cabochon-cut starsapphire with an overall weight of 60 carats, as rare as it isseductive, with two trapezoidal diamonds on each flank ofthe white gold setting. Linear design and extraordinarycraftsmanship characterize the spectacular necklace inwhite gold and diamonds, worn by Gisele Bündchen ina famous ad campaign by Fabrizio Ferri for the Luceacollection. Then there is the elegant necklace and earringsset decorated with diamonds and red spinels exceptionalfor their colour, size and purity, mounted on white gold.Next is a precious sautoir in yellow gold consisting ofa long gourmette chain graced by seven large silvercoins, but not just any coins: these are extremely ancientMacedonian tetradrams depicting Alexander the Great,Zeus and Heracles. The collection also includes a cocktailring inspired by the classic Parentesi motif, wherein a large, faceted rubellite tourmaline is inserted into a claw prongsetting in the form of stylised parentheses. The jewellerycollection concludes with three variations on the serpentbracelet: flexible and sinuous triple spirals in pink andyellow gold, decorated with polychrome enamel, onyx, coral and diamonds. The collection also includes seven pieces of the finestwatchmaking, fruit of the union of innovative design andtechnical excellence, some of which are distinguishedby special engravings that celebrate Bulgari’s 125th

anniversary. The watch collection starts with two versionsof the Sotirio Bulgari Quantième Annuel in white and pinkgold, featuring a retrograde date display and an automaticmanufacture movement composed of 360 separatecomponents. Next is the Assioma MulticomplicationSquelette, with platinum case, skeletised dial, tourbillon, perpetual calendar and GMT indicator for a second timezone. This is by far the most valuable and sophisticatedtimepiece in the Assioma line, of which there exist only25 numbered exemplars, the model on auction beingnumber 1. Then come two versions of the Diagono for

men, inspired by Myron’s Discobulus: a Diagono Caliber303 in steel with a white gold bezel and three-level dial, and a Diagono Phases de Lune with a pink gold case, lunar phase indicator and transparent caseback. Fromthe collection of the same name, but in this case for thesophisticated and self-assured woman is the Assioma Din white gold, with case, dial and bracelet studded withbrilliant-cut diamonds. The last timepiece is an extremelyprecious Astrale with a white gold case encrusted with86 brilliant-cut and pavé-cut diamonds, while the dialsparkles with fully 177 pavé-cut diamonds. So let us all continue to celebrate the past and Rewrite theFuture, on December 8th, 2009, in New York.
