May is the month of Mary! We will have our
May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary at
the 9 am Mass this Sunday, 6 May 2018. Join our
First Communicants and bring a flower to pre-
sent to our Blessed Mother!
Altar Server training: There will be altar server
training for all current and new altar serv-
ers on Saturday 12 and 19 May at 10:30 am in the
Cathedral. All the youth of parish 2nd Grade
through High School are invited to become a
server at the Cathedral.
Did you know? Students at Charles-
ton Catholic School score remarkably
above the national average on MAP
testing, which measures student progress in
math, reading, and language. For example, our
3rd grade reading class scored 8.6 percentile
points above the national average, and our 7th
grade class scored 12.2 percentile points above
the national average. CCs is currently taking ap-
plications for 2018-19 enrollment.
CCS would like to thank our teachers for the tre-
mendous job they do. They look forward to cele-
brating them during Teacher Appreciation Day

Christian Formations News: Parents of 1st Communicants: Sunday, 3 June is the Feast of Corpus Christi. There will be a procession of the Body of Christ down Broad Street and Church Street after the 6pm Mass. The streets will be blocked off from traffic. First Communicants are needed to dress in their 1st communion outfits. Girls will carry baskets of rose petals to be scattered during the procession and boys will be holding candles. in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. Parents are

life: facilities maintenance, fellowship, on-
going faith formation for the entire family etc.
has been reviewed by the Executive Com-
mittee for Long Range Planning. They have
been reviewing input submitted on the surveys
to discern priorities so that the parish can
make informed decisions about long range
plans.

Sacrament of Marriage
Either the bride or the groom must be a practicing
Catholic and registered at the Cathedral for at least
twelve months before scheduling a wedding date and
beginning the six month marriage preparation. The
bride/groom must be an active parishioner, regularly
attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obliga-
tion, and use of the envelope system in support of the
parish. The Wedding Policy Booklet may be found on
the Cathedral Website.

Various facilities and services are available to our ac-
tive members. This includes use of the church for Bap-
tisms, Weddings and other Sacramental events, God-
parent/Sponsor letters, and includes parishioner status
in parochial schools.
Active Membership is determined by four things:
Being properly registered in the parish for a suffi-
cient period of time.
Faithful attendance at Mass on Sundays and Holy
Days.
Use of the envelope system in support of the par-
ish.
Being active in at least one parish program, minis-
try or organization.
