Trapped Cavers in Bungonia Gorge located safe and well after having entering the cave system on Sunday 16 Feb-
ruary. The three experienced male cavers were trapped in the ‘coffin’ gave after torrential rain flooded their es-
cape route forcing the trio into higher ground within the cave system.
Responsibly, they had informed others of their planned trip and when they failed to report back after their ex-
pected time of return, the alarm was raised - leading to their safe rescue 24 hours after having entering the system.

now been turned off.
In the near future channel 8 UHF CB will
be the local UHF CB Repeater channel to use locally when the ‘cans’ are installed.
Ongoing project.
If you are close enough to speak directly
with someone, you can use channel 38 but
if you need to utilise the Repeater function,
use channel 8 for all of your radio needs
( depending on the terrain and distance you
are in from the repeater )

FIRE DANGER RATINGS Catastrophic For your survival, leaving early is the only option. Leave bush fire prone areas the night before or early in the day - do not just wait and see what happens. Make a decision about when you will leave, where you will go, how you will get there and when you will re-turn. Homes are not designed to withstand fires in cata-strophic conditions so you should leave early.
Extreme Leaving early is the safest option for your survival. If you are not prepared to the highest level, leave early in the day. Only consider staying if you are prepared to the high-est level - such as your home is specially designed, constructed or modified, and situated to withstand a fire, you are well prepared and can active-ly defend it if a fire starts.
Leaving early is the safest option for your survival. Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety – but only stay if you are physically and mentally prepared to defend in these conditions. If you’re not prepared, leave early in the day.
Very High, High, Moderate - Low Review your Bush Fire Survival Plan with your family. Keep yourself informed and monitor conditions. Be ready to act if necessary. Usually, fire details are locally updated on the Bun-gonia Facebook page when circumstances permit.
Not local - but if you travel to Wollongong and think something is missing, you are right. The Pt Kembla copper
smelter stack, standing 650 feet tall, is now a pile of rubble after being demolished today, 20 Feb 2014 around
11.15am, by explosives and was certainly a sight to see this monolith fall.
WARNING
Watch your pets. At least two local dogs have been hit
by brown snakes last month and another brown was
caught in chicken wire trying to invade a chicken coup.
THANKS
Pauline, Simon and Kristen Dickson would like to
publicly thanks those who went out of their way in
looking after them and Alan over the weeks leading
up to Alans’ death and funeral. They very much ap-
preciate all of the care and friendship displayed, as
would of Alan.

MARULAN. AT the invitation of the host of the Terminus
Hotel a few friends of Mr. Wm. Ross assembled at a complimen-
tary dinner to wish him bon voyage on the eve of his departure for Scotland. Several toasts were honoured, and a very pleasant
evening was spent. Mr. and Mrs. Ross expect to be away about
six months. They have promised to bring some of their friends a
root of Scotch heather.
Wedding - A very pretty wedding took place at All Saints'
Church, Marulan, on Wednesday, when Mr. Carl Ferguson, son
of Mr. T. Ferguson J.P., married Miss Ethel Hatter, third daugh-
ter of Mr. John Hatter. The bride was given away by her father,
and was attended by seven bridesmaids. Rev. E. F. Timewell
officiated. The church was crowded with spectators.

Gardening in March.
WOW !!! rain at last so start planting your spring flowering bulbs for a colourful display later. Prune hydrangeas, remove a third of the
plant and trim to an outward facing bud. Take cuttings of geraniums and azaleas. Compost the leaves that have fallen during the dry
period.
A word about figs. There are many types of figs that are fr ee fruiter s but even these will struggle if not planted in a sunny,
warm, sheltered position, so find your sunniest spot. Figs will produce copious vegetative growth but will not fruit if they are grown in
fertile soil. Restrict their root run by growing in pots. However if you allow their roots to dry out they will abort the fruit. All figs are
self fertile and pruning is not essential to producing fruit although removing some foliage in summer can hasten fruit ripening. Plant now beetroot, broccoli, Brussels sprout, cabbage, carrot, leek, lettuce, par snip, shallots, silverbeet, spring onions, spinach
and turnips.
In the flower garden sow aquilegia, bellis., Canterbury bells, cornflower, delphinium, hollyhock, larkspur, pansy, polyanthus, primula
and stock.

I used to attend and donate whole blood but you can only do that every 12 weeks which saves 3 lives. The girls down at the Blood Service are absolute crackers and you will thoroughly enjoy your time down there with them, have a few milk shakes and snacks before leaving and you know that your donation will be di-rectly used in a life saving situation. Syngas to acquire Ardmore Park quarry Posted January 31, 2014
A power generation giant has formally entered the ex-
tractive industry with the proposed acquisition of quar-
rying and civil construction interests.
Syngas, a company which is engaged in power genera-
tion from biomass and coal to liquids technologies, has
entered into an agreement to acquire a quarry and a civil
engineering business in New South Wales.
The Heads of Agreement is with CEAL Ltd and Mul-
tiquip Aggregates to acquire a quarry owned by CEAL
and the civil engineering business operated by Mul-
tiquip.
CEAL Ltd is the owner of the Ardmore Park quarry and,
subject to certain conditions, holds development approv-
al to extract and transport 400,000 tonnes of material.
According to the Environmental Assessment document,
sand resources targeted for extraction at Ardmore Park
have been estimated at 6.3 million tonnes and the hard
rock resource estimated at nine million tonnes.
Around 92 per cent of this material would be suitable
for production of construction or road building materi-
als.
Multiquip Aggregates is a transport, earthmoving and
civil contracting business that owns trucks and earth-
moving machinery.
This acquisition will allow Syngas to quickly move into
an operations mode as Multiquip Aggregates has mobile
plant and experienced personnel and CEAL has been
granted development approval for the extraction of ag-
gregate, road base and construction sand.
Extraction and processing operations are approved until
30 July, 2039. Some conditions on road upgrades are to
be met and this means that Syngas must raise capital of
up to $20 million, with a minimum of $7.5mill to be
raised.
This money will be used to complete the road upgrades,
the construction of a crushing and screening plant for
the basalt resource and the construction of a washing
plant for the production of fine aggregates.
The transaction is conditional on Syngas shareholder
approval.
www.quarrymagazine.com/Article.aspx?
id=3560&h=Syngas-to-acquire-Ardmore-Park-quarry
Multiquip Aggregates' fleet will enable Syngas
to begin operations immediately at CEAL’s
Ardmore Park quarry.

ceremony on horseback to marry Bob Marshall at Shallen Park, Bungonia on Saturday 2 November 2013.

Community First Responders
C.F.R. / S.E.S.
These blokes and women do an absolutely fantastic and critical job in responding to medical emergencies in this area and dedicate a lot of
their personal time in an effort to help and protect members of this, and other, communities.
C.F.R. Members are also member of the S.E.S., and are further trained in advanced First Aid techniques by the NSW Ambulance Service
and could be called upon to provide advanced first aid at roadside collisions and other emergencies in areas where there is no immediate
State ambulance service available or close by.
C.F.R. Members also have a positive working relationship with local Police, Ambulance and other emergency services.
In order to keep this vital C.F.R. Active in this community, further volunteers are urgently required. If you are interested in this line of
activity - please contact Kevin Muffet on 4844 7143 who will be more than glad to explain the processes to you.

who are looking to get into the medical field Ambulance
Service, Police Force etc.
It would also be a great way for good local people to join
in a winning team who are out there to help others.
If you would like to join the S.E.S. / C.F.R. then give Kev
