Our productions are specially commissioned new plays or adaptations of children’s books and often include live music, dance and movement. Watch out for our forthcoming production of Rapunzel, touring spring 2015, and our new play Snow Child, adapted from Little Daughter of the Snow by Arthur Ransome, and written by Emma Reeves of CBBC Tracy Beaker and The Dumping Ground fame. Our long-standing commitment to quality performance for children and their families continues into our Spring 2015 season for children, which features new versions of well-known tales such as Arabian Nights and Little Bo Peep. We’re a great place to spend the holidays: in February half term we welcome local magician High Jinx Magic And Illusion and balletLORENT’ s Rapunzel, and at Easter we’ll be hosting Northern Ballet’s latest ballet for children, Elves & The Shoemaker and a new adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s I Believe In Unicorns. Pick up a copy of our new season brochure or go to www.thelbt.org is committed to making and presenting work for children and families and has co-produced work with tutti frutti for over 9 years. This work includes three Little Feet Festivals where the whole theatre is transformed into a child friendly venue and where the best touring productions around are presented and 12 national touring productions which start with a run at the theatre. York Theatre Royal has one of the largest education departments in the country working with over 2,500 young people every year. Summer 2015 will see the remount of the award winning production of The Railway Children at the National Railway Museum – an experience not to be missed.
