An infusion of Westernized Jazz and Thai melodies that has been a popular staple in the Thai art scene, which combines the traditions and rituals of a meeting point for the Thai village elders and family leaders, has led us all to Rendez-Vue at this particular point in time.

Enriched with panoramic views over the lush green hills and fable-enriched Andaman Sea, Rendez-Vue exudes the element of relaxation that arises from the enjoyment of fine music along with friends or loved ones, and perfecting the occasion with a sumptuous mix of tapas just before heading off to your evening’s dinner.

Rendez-Vue’s inspiration aims to harness the traditions of past village tribes; were village residents would gather in one commonplace to share ideas and experiences.

THE BEGINNING OF AN ERA

Thailand was first introduced to Jazz in the 1940’s, and by the 1970’s Thailand had produceda total of 48 compositions, apart from the songs influenced by jazz.

It was during this time that most Thai musicians started to specialize in wind instruments, especially the saxophone and clarinet.From the mid 1940’s young Thai musicians started to compose their own music with the first notable composition been Candlelight Blues. The trend of the newly in-troduced Jazz melodies continued to grow, getting international recognition through Thai musical collaborations with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Benny Goodman, Stan Getz, Lionel Hampton and Benny Carter.

From the late 1940’s through to the early 1970’s Thailand was able to boast 49 compositions. Much of it had been jazz and swing, but they also composed Marches, Waltzes and Thai patriotic songs. The most popular compositions were Candlelight Blues, Love at Sundown and Falling Rain which were all composed in 1946. Majority of Thai Jazz musician’s musical influences included Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Benny Carter and Johnny Hodges.

In Thailand, this spirit is referred to as ‘Lao Khao’, or Thai white spirit.

Lao Khao is sometimes mixed with various herbs to produce a medicinal drink called yadong (literally “fermented herb in alcohol”). Interestingly, some people claim that it helps

them even regain their strength.
