I’m thrilled to announce that our Distinguished School sign was meticulously hung by our dedicated Maintenance & Operations team and looks fantastic! Last Spring, we were selected to receive the Distinguished School award for our exemplary educational program. Approximately five percent of California public schools are honored with this recognition each year, following a rigorous application and selection process. In our school’s application, we highlighted two Signature Practices that reflect our commitment to providing an enriched, standards-based curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment. Signature Practice #1 spoke to our goal of educating the whole child. While we passionately aspire to accomplish this goal in numerous ways, four specific programs were spotlighted in-depth, including: ABC Readers, Buzz Club, Mileage Club, and our Safety and Wellness Program. Signature Practice #2 focused on how technology is utilized to improve student achievement and to teach 21st Century Skills such as: information analysis, critical thinking, collaboration, and oral/written communication. Key to our success is the ongoing support of our parents. In addition to our new sign, I have listed the programs, activities, and supplies currently funded through the Home & School Club. Alex’s WishFebruary 9th - February 13th

k

Alex Solis, former Blossom Hill student, had a wish. While fighting his battle with bone cancer, he found great comfort in his pillow pet, “Frenchy.” Because of this, Alex wanted to buy pillow pets for every pediatric oncology patient to provide comfort for them during their hospitalization. In December, 2010, Alex’s wish was realized when he donated pillow pets to all of the kids at Kaiser Santa Clara for Christmas

Tragically, Alex lost his battle with cancer in May of 2011. Even though Alex is no longer physically with us, we can keep his wish alive. Please help us raise money to once again donate pillow pets in Alex’s name to the children currently at Kaiser Santa Clara. Every dollar will help, so cash/change and checks are accepted. Please make checks out to “The Alex Solis Benefit Fund.”

If you have any questions, contact Wendy [email protected]
