e Campsite PROGRAM

Sharing an EcosystemYou are camping in wildlife habitat

We share this landscape with wild animals that depend on it for their food and survival, including black bears, cougars and wolves.

The “bare” campsite program is in place for your safety, and to keep the wildlife alive and wild.

By keeping a “bare” campsite, you are playing an important part in preventing the creation of food-conditioned animals.

When not in use (when sleeping, or when you leave your campsite, even to use the washroom), you must store all attractants in a hard-sided vehicle, motorhome, trailer or campground food storage lockers.

DO NOT store in a tent or tent-trailer!

These are a few examples. Many other items can be attractants too.

Parks Canada staff patrol the campground regularly to en-sure that campers have not left anything out at their site that could attract wildlife. If you return to your site and discover that items are missing, they may have been relocated to wildlife-proof storage. Look for a notice left by park staff. It contains further instructions on how and where you can claim those items, and how staff can help.

Thank you! Your efforts in keeping a “bare” campsite are appreciated by Parks Canada and your fellow campers.

WALK-IN SITES

Attendants are on duty to help you keep the campground neat and tidy, and to ensure that your stay at Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is a pleasant one. In order for the campground to operate in an orderly fashion we would like you to help in the following manner:

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT • Register and pay fees at time of arrival.• Maximum length of stay is 7 days.• Campsite allocations may only be changed with prior approval

of the campground attendant.• Check out time is 11am. If re-registering please do so before

that time. Camping space is in constant demand and unregisteredcampers will be asked to vacate.

• Please return registration and ‘available’ sign on final departure.

SAFETY • Feeding any wildlife (including birds) is illegal and harmful.• Adhere to posted speed limit of 20 km/h in campground.• All fires must be confined to fireplaces provided.• Never leave valuables in your unattended campsite or in your vehicle.

GOOD NEIGHBOURS • Leave toilet buildings, tables and campsites clean

— other visitors appreciate clean facilities too!• Pets must always be on a leash and are not permitted in washrooms.• Alcohol is not permitted in public areas (anywhere off your site).• Respect quiet hours 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.• No excessive noise at any time.

PROTECTING NATURE • Please place your tent on the established footprint of the campsite.• Please do not scar or damage trees or shrubs.• Deposit garbage and recycling in proper disposal facilities.• Keep food, including coolers, where it will not attract bears

or other wild animals (wildlife pays the ultimate price if foodassociation is established).

• Leave wild animals, flowers and trees undisturbed.

Please drive safely and enjoy your holiday at Pacific Rim National Park Reserve!
