At the last meeting of the Stephen Tainter Chapter in November four new members were welcomed and two were presented with supple-mental certificates. In the photo are, from left to right, Michael John Har-ris, his son John Luis Harris, and his father, John Carl Harris, followed by Christopher Hilton (all new members). Next is Lyle McGee and his son Charles McGee, State Society First Vice President. Charles recent-ly had two supplemental applications approved for Patriots Solomon Tyler and Benjamin Archer.
When the Stephen Tainter Chapter gathered in August, these Compatri-ots were on hand (from left); Tim Noble, Lyle McGee, Charles McGee, Jim Noble and Chester Hilton. They joined in a picnic at The Highgrounds where everybody brought something to eat, including the main course of barbecue pulled pork. Afterward they walked around the park a bit and took in the sights.
WISSAR President Roger Boeker attended the Holiday Party
for the Morgan-Kosciuszko Chapter on Saturday, January 3,
2015. The event was held at The Wisconsin Club in downtown
Milwaukee at noon.
In addition to eight SAR members, several members of the
Wisconsin Society of Colonial Wars, the Society of the War of
1812, Founders and Patriots and a few Daughters of the Ameri-
can Revolution were also attending.
After ascertaining that there were seven adult Eagle Scouts
in the room, Compatriot Boeker spoke about the SAR Eagle
Boy Scout of the Year competition, now being judged. Then
Boeker proceeded to relate progress in the placement of a Rev-
olutionary War Soldier's Statue at the St. Johns Northwestern
Military Academy in Delafield, noting that the dedication
would be on their Awards Day set for next May.
Near the end of the meeting, Chapter President Thomas P.
Curtis gave a talk on the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of
New Orleans in the War of 1812. Then Compatriots Curtis and
Boeker presented the SAR membership certificate and lapel
rosette to inductee Joseph Jackson. By coincidence, Joe is the
grandfather of three Eagle Scouts with another Eagle on the
way. One grandson, Timothy Joseph Schick, is a competitor in
the WISSAR Eagle competition.

COLOR GUARD MEMBERS ASSEMBLED WITH GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER DURING VETERANS DAY EVENT AT THE STATE CAPI-TOL. Honored were Wisconsin's Veterans as part of a celebration in Madison, Wisconsin, Friday, November 7, 2014. Pictured, from left, are Aaron Krebs, William Muether, Robert Muether, Roger Boeker, our Governor, Mike Nelson and Mark Nelson. Our color guard commander Jerry Helgeson also was present, but was out of the range for this photo.
COLOR GUARD MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN MADISON’S WARNER PARK PARADE AND FESTIVITIES. The Guard provided flag presen-tation at the Statue of Liberty replica, which was erected in the 1950’s by Boy Scout contributions of pennies to the project. The statue was refur-bished and installed at Warner Park at a cost of about $20,000. WIS-SAR President Roger Boeker read a paper about our flag during the ceremonies. Pictured from left are Vi Bergum (in Betsy Ross costume), Color Guard Commander Gerald Helgeson, Dr. Mark Nelson, Dr. Mike Nelson, Annapolis candidate Robert Muether, William Muether, State President Roger Boeker. The program was well received by the audi-ence.
AWARD GRANTED — WISSAR Chancellor Russ Buhr recently was present-ed the Honorable Thomas J. Vogt Memorial Service Award, which is given out by the Wisconsin Municipal Judges Association in recognition of outstanding contributions to Wisconsin Municipal Courts and com-munity.
NEW AUPAUMUT MEMBER WEL-COMED AT APRIL 12TH MEETING. The event was held at the local Fremont Hotel. Aupaumut Chapter President Vince Barker presents the SAR new membership packet and rosette to Dr. Dwight Stevens of Stevens Point. His primary Patriot ancestor is Gideon Ack-ley of Middlesex, Connecticut.
MEMBERS OF THE WISSAR COLOR GUARD, wearing the replica of George Washington's Personal Guard uniform, made the flag presenta-tion at the luncheon for the Land Surveyor's Conference in Wisconsin Dells in January 2015. The new-fangled surveying device with electron-ic features was created by Seiler Design Solutions, the company which demonstrated latest surveying equipment for the event. The flag bear-ers Brian Barrett and Roger Boeker were confused by the device, and commented that George Washington did extensive surveying during the Revolutionary war, but did not have equipment like this.
