In our Gospel today, we hear Jesus say

to his disciples, “All authority in heaven and

earth has been given to me. Go therefore

and make disciples of all nations, baptizing

them in the name of the Father and of the

Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching

them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” (Mt

28.18-20a)

This is the mission that we, too, have been given by the

risen Jesus. The Church does not have a mission – it is the

mission. If we are to call ourselves “disciples”, every aspect

of our lives needs to be dedicated

to bringing the Good News to

those we encounter. When we

have been able to integrate this

evangelization into the fibre of our

lives, then, we will be able to call

ourselves “intentional disciples”.

A faith community of “intentional disciples” is what we at

Holy Family Parish are committed to fostering. The

prospect of change is unsettling – and commitment to

change is even more uncomfortable. So, we might want to

pass off “intentional discipleship” as just the latest new

trend in ministry initiatives. But, Jesus’ words to his

disciples – and to us – on the occasion of his Ascension,

are hardly new and hardly trendy. They are foundational to

the Christian Church, spelling out, in no uncertain terms,

our core mission. So, if Jesus’ command is not the focus of

our faith lives – why are we doing whatever else it is that we

are doing?

At Holy Family Parish and in the Diocese of London, we

are “walking the talk”! The parish Senior Leadership Team

met this past Tuesday and Wednesday and with all the

parish staff on Thursday to plan for how, during the next

year and in the years to come, we can invite each of you to

the personal encounter with Jesus that is fundamental to

intentional discipleship. During the coming week, we will be

joining with all those in ministry in the diocese at our

Pastoral Study Days, to learn more about how the

necessary transition from “maintenance to “mission” in our

diocese can be advanced through the evolution of the

Families of Parishes.

In his final discourse to his disciples, Jesus reminded

them, “And, remember, I am with you always, to the end of

the age.” (Mt 28.20b) Next Sunday is the Solemnity of

Pentecost, the third greatest feast in the Church year, after

the Nativity of the Lord and the Resurrection of the Lord.

We invite you to join us on Saturday evening, June 3rd,

at 7:00 p.m., for our Vigil of Pentecost Service. This will

include exposition of the Blessed

Sacrament, Scripture readings, time for

silent prayer and adoration and will

conclude with Benediction. What better

way to celebrate this inpouring of the

Holy Spirit – God’s enduring presence

with us on our journey toward eternal life!

Renovation Plans are underway for the much needed upgrades to the washrooms at the foot of the stairs. Thanks to the generosity of many parishioners donating their time and talent, these washrooms will

tentatively be closed from June 26th through to August 6th to accomplish all that is needed for these upgrades. Kindly use the handicapped washrooms available across from the elevators or at the east side of the building next to the St. John Paul II Room.

TO: The Holy Family Parishioners

FROM: Fr. Bob Remark

RE: Gallup’s ME25™ Survey

How can we best accomplish what God has in mind for us? How can we best use the gifts and talents of the people

who are a part of this parish? These are important questions, and we have been wrestling with them for quite some

time at Holy Family Parish.

To this end, we want to hear from each of you. Beginning the weekend of June 18, 2017, we will conduct

Gallup’s Member Engagement (ME25) survey, a census of all adult members of our parish that will give you the

opportunity to share your opinions about some of the key aspects of our parish life.

The survey will be administered by Gallup, an independent research company known for its understanding of

people and their opinions. Although most of us know Gallup for its polling work, the organization has been

listening to people’s opinions and studying successful organizations for several decades. With this experience,

Gallup brings a seasoned ability to help us gather and understand all of the opinions throughout our parish.

Your opinions will be completely confidential; Gallup will not reveal any individual responses to anyone. After

we have received the results from Gallup, we will use them to start a dialogue about our parish and how we can

more effectively accomplish our vision and mission. We all have a stake in the opportunities and challenges that

lie ahead.

The success of this effort hinges on the completion of the survey by each one of us who is at least 18 years of age.

We all share equally in our responsibility to reach the goal of 100% participation by our parish. Your opinions

need to be heard.

This is an exciting time for our parish. We are taking important steps toward fulfilling God’s purpose for us now

and in the years to come. The process and subsequent dialogue will help us all in that effort.

Devotedly yours in Christ,

Fr. Bob Fr. Bob Fr. Bob Fr. Bob
