The Asbo couple: Court tells husband andwife to stop shouting at each other

A warring couple have been given Asbos - to stop them from fighting in their own home.

Dean Jones and Jeanette Lloyd have been accused of rowing non-stop for three years, and making their neighbours'lives 'a living hell.'

They can be heard shouting, swearing and screaming at one another, a court heard.

Police were repeatedly called to their home after their 'appalling' domestic flare-ups spilled out onto the street.

Neighbours could rarely sit in their gardens 'enjoying the sunshine, barbecues or paddling pools' because of the rows,magistrates were told.

Prosecutor Jonathan Barrett said: 'Some people detailed almost daily occurrences of shouting and screaming matcheslasting an hour or more, with vile abuse and threats.

'Neighbours were unable to sleep. The stress of living near such an unacceptable domestic situation led them to fear fortheir own well-being and safety.'

Mr Jones, 41, and Miss Lloyd, 37, had previously been warned about their behaviour at their home in Tonypandy,Rhondda, South Wales.

Rhondda magistrates yesterday gave them Anti Social Behaviour Orders in a bid to stop their arguing.



The two-year order bans them from 'using verbally abusive or threatening language to each other and from causing anoise nuisance at their home'.

The couple were told they would be arrested and jailed if they continued their rows.

One neighbour said: 'We've been keeping diaries about the daily shouting and screaming matches which last for anhour or more.

'Some of us have been unable to sleep and the stress of living so near them has been incredible. We hope they justcalm down now and shut up.'

Phil Bevan, Head of the Rhondda Community Safety Partnership, said: 'The behaviour of this couple was absolutelyappalling and completely unacceptable.

'We have a duty to protect the communities we serve. We will not tolerate offenders making life a misery for others.

'Elderly and poorly people were being put through incredible levels of stress and upset due to the behaviour of Lloyd andJones.

'People have a right to live peacefully in their homes.'

Inspector Mike Jones, of South Wales Police, said: 'The behaviour of this couple greatly impacted on the lives of peoplewho live in the street.

'Other avenues of action were tried and considered but such was the level of disorder, Anti Social Behaviour Orders weredeemed the most effective way of dealing with the matter.

'I hope these ASBOs will make residents feel safer in their own community, improve their quality of life and finally givethem some peace.'

The couple, who have three daughters, are planning to sell their three-bedroomed house to have a fresh start in a newneighbourhood.

Jones said: 'It's a fuss over nothing. We row like every other couple and there's nothing wrong with that.

'What we do in the privacy of our own house is up to us but I don't think we are any louder than anyone else.

'These complaints have brought police, social workers, council workers and all sorts to my door.

'We've been treated unfairly and made to feel like low-lives when we're not. We are just like many other couples - we loveeach other really.'

ASBO's don't work. Most people that have them wear them like a badge of honor, and continue to behave as they didbefore. Labour have filled our prisons with many who don't belong, whilst allowing those that do belong to go free. Thattough on crime and tough on the causes of crime speech, turned out to be the same as Blair, and Brown alwaysspouted. RUBBISH.

Denial is not only a river in Egypt, these two are planking on about being unfairly treated - WAKE UP! You're the ones whohave been unfairly treating your neighbours and lo and behold, they stood up to you. Good for them. Now stop whiningand behave yourselves, it's not that difficult it you put your mind to it.

Well don't they look a jolly couple?! I'm glad to hear this story, as someone who lives in a terraced house between twowannabe asbo households! We called the police on one of the households recently after they spent four weekends in arow having a blazing row; they'd argue for hours, he'd then storm off, and she'd spend the next few hours literally howlinglike a dog! The police came and went, the next we heard was "oh my god, I'm so embarrassed!" from them, good! Publichumiliation is the only thing these people respond to! People need to understand that this is a small overcrowded island,most people live in terraced housing, and you hear everything! I wish people were more respectful and considerate, butin chav britain I feel I may be asking too much!

Sad they think they are like any other couple. We never behaved like that and I don't believe most people do. There is noneed for name calling or being mean to a partner. Yelling for up to an hour, EVERY day. NO that is not normal. Try talkingquietly. No one 'really' listens to a person who's yelling/screaming.
