Dear Delegates, Colleagues, and Friends
Bali, known also as “the Island of Gods”, is one of more than 17.000 islands in the Indonesian archi-
pelago. A tropical paradise that feels like a fantasy, where you can soak up underneath the sun on
a fine stretch of the white sand, or commune with the tropical creatures. A blend of spectacular
mountain sceneries and beautiful beaches with warm and friendly people. For these reasons, we
would like to invite you all to explore the magical and mystical Bali where we host the 5th Congress
of Asian Society of Head Neck Oncology in conjunction with 5th Otorhinolaryngology Head and
Neck Oncology and with 2nd Indonesian Oncologist Head and Neck Society .
Bali’s cultural and natural diversity has inspired the Organizing Committee to choose the theme of
this conference as “The Arts of Head and Neck Cancer Management “. The management of Head
and Neck Cancer are multidiscipline, multimodality, yet personalized. Therefore, special tasks and
knowledge are needed to treat the patients, such as skill from physic, psychology, empathy mak-
ing our effort a special art form in its own respect.
The goal of the Conference is to bring together international groups of experts of Head and Neck
Surgeons from ENT and surgical Oncology, radiologist, histopathologist, radiation Oncologist,
medical Oncologist, nutritionist, rehabilitation and others to deepen our understanding of the
disease in order to ease the patient’s burden and at the same time improve the outcome for pa-
tients with Head and Neck Cancers.
We have accumulated interesting scientific programs that will cover a wide range of sub-themes and selected topics related to Head and
neck cancer. The Conference will be a catalyst for further interaction and collaboration among the participants. Organizing Committee will
select the best 3 from U-40 research and case report, also for poster research and case report.
We hope that you will enjoy the conference and have a memorable time
To our foreign participants, I would like to wish you “ Selamat Datang” or a warm welcome, to Indonesia and particularly to the island of
Bali, the world’s favorites destination for business, leisure and fun.

Welcome Message from IFHNOS
5th CONGRESS OF ASIAN SOCIETY OF
HEAD AND NECK ONCOLOGY
(ASHNO)
Welcome to Asian Society of Head & Neck Oncology (ASHNO).
ASHNO is a multi-disciplinary society for head & neck oncology, which was initiated in 2008
by the strong leadership of Prof. Hao, the founding president & general secretary.
By the recent advances in medical sciences and technologies, now, multi-
disciplinary approaches are required to enable the personalized therapy for the individual
patients with head and neck cancers. As well known, head and neck cancers in Asian coun-
tries show different biological behaviors and characters from western countries in various
aspects. Thus, it is really an important idea that all the countries in the Asian region get gath-
er and share our experiences and knowledge, in order to boost up our clinical practice to the
next level, to promote clinical and basic researches and to raise the next generations.
Scientific meeting has been held every 2 year. First congress was held in Taipei
(Taiwan 2009), 2nd in Goa (India 2011), 3rd in Cebu (Philippines 2013) and 4th in Kobe (Japan
2015). 5th congress will be held in Bali March 23 to 25, 2017 by the host of Prof. Marlinda
Adham. I am looking forward to see many of you again in the beautiful island!
Ken-ichi Nibu, MD, PhD
President, Asian Society of Head and Neck Oncology
Professor and Chairman
Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine
Welcome Message from President of ASHNO
5th CONGRESS OF ASIAN SOCIETY OF
HEAD AND NECK ONCOLOGY
(ASHNO)
The Asian Society of Head & Neck Oncology (ASHNO) was initiated in July 21, 2008 in San
Francisco with the aim of promoting and advancing the knowledge of prevention, diagnosis,
treatment, and rehabilitation of neoplasms and related diseases of the head and neck.
The first ASHNO meeting was hosted by myself in Taipei, Taiwan in 2009, and
the ASHNO was formally established. The second ASHNO meeting was hosted by Prof. Anil
D’Cruz in Goa, India in 2011 where the Executive Board decided to register
the ASHNO permanently in Taiwan. After stepping down from the position of Founding
President, I then became the Secretary General of ASHNO. Subsequently, Prof. Alfredo
Pontejos hosted the third ASHNO meeting in Cebu, Philippines in 2013. This was followed by
Prof. Ken-ichi Nibu of Japan, who hosted the fourth scientific meeting in Kobe in 2015. As
you may know, the fifth ASHNO will be held in Bali, Indonesia, to be hosted by Dr. Marlinda.
It is my strong belief that this meeting will be a most successful one.
I would also like to take this opportunity to report the current strategy of ASHNO, which
is: Foothold in Asia, Eye on the World. In the past few years, the name of this society has
been graciously used to support several international meetings through the organization of
ASHNO sponsored symposiums. Even though the basic principles of managing Head and
Neck tumors are the same, in Asia, where we have our own distinct civilization and culture, it
is essential that we take this into consideration in order to develop our own approach in Head and Neck Oncology.
ASHNO is truly a multi-disciplinary society of Head & Neck Oncology that welcomes scholars from different specialties to come and join us.
I also strongly encourage each and every member of our society from different countries to actively participate in this meeting and in our
future meetings. It is my belief that the next ASHNO meeting in Bali will be your most unforgettable one yet.

This tour takes you to see the historical
and cultural highlights Bali has to offer,
through fascinating temples and pala-
tial complexes. This day out shows you
some of Bali's most fascinating sites:
the Kerta Gosa royal court house dating
back to the 18th century; Besakih
Temple, Bali's largest temple complex;
and Gunung Kawi, an 11th century
temple featuring 10 stone shrines
carved into the cliff face. This full-day tour is an eye-opener for first-time visitors to the
island and a delightful experience for those with an appreciation for Balinese architec-
ture and art. All three structures are fine examples of Hindu influences on Balinese's
religious beliefs and traditional architectures.
An ocean sunset, cliff-top fire
dance and stunning views of Bali’s
legendary surf breaks are the
three pluses of this tour. The
actual highlight, though, is the
Uluwatu Temple, one of the
most spectacular Hindu temples
along the Bali coastline. Built by a
high Hindu priest from East Java
named Dang Hyang Dwijendra in
the 11th century, this beautiful temple is located atop a limestone cliff towering 90
meters above the Indian Ocean. Here, enjoy a performance of The Ramayana epic-
based Kecak Dance with the majestic temple and sunset as its background, then con-
tinue on to a small fishing village at Jimbaran, where a seafood dinner will be served
right on the beach, concluding the memorable evening.
This package offers an unforgettable tour
and education experience among the more
than 100
species of animals housed at the recrea-
tional park and active wildlife conservation
center, Bali Safari Marine Park. Book this
package and get one time Safari Journey
Trip, Fresh Water Aquarium, Animal Show
and Elephant Show.
Discover the depths of yoga and meditation
in Island of God – Bali. It’s our selection of
high quality Yoga
This Tanah Lot tour completes your Bali
experience. Tanah Lot, this island's
most iconic temple and landmark
located on Bali's south-western coast,
is where you can enjoy the most exotic
sunsets behind the silhouette of the
temple. Before reaching Tanah Lot, just
in time to catch the mesmerizing views,
this Tanah Lot to takes you on a half-
day journey that starts after noon to
see two other temples that are silent witnesses of Bali's glorious past and are still function-
al and revered by the Balinese to this day, namely: Taman Ayun, a stronghold of a 17th
century dynasty, and Alas Kedaton, Set within a nutmeg forest home to hordes of grey
long – tailed macaques.
Discover a delightful blend of tradition, art, nature and spirituality that defines the true
essence of a Bali experience through this tour. Visit the Batubulan art village and de-
light in the Barong and Keris
Dance, a spectacular performance
depicting the fight between good
and evil, and a classic example of
the Balinese way of acting out
mythology. Next are stopovers to
the gold and silversmith communi-
ties of Celuk and Mas, and Bali's
artistic heartland of Ubud. A drive
up a mountain slope and across
beautiful terraced rice fields will
bring you to Kintamani and Penelo-
kan, where the still-active Mount Batur Volcano towers overhead. Seven miles in diam-
eter and sixty feet deep, Batur caldera is simply astounding. A stopover at the well-
maintained, age-old traditional village of Penglipuran concludes the tour.
Step out of your ordinary day and join us at the gallery for an introduction into Balinese Dance. Our experienced teacher will gently guide you and your friends as you learn your first Balinese dance steps. Sample the inte-grated body movements, hand and facial gestures that make Balinese dance so unusu-al to new visitors. Our teacher will explain the meaning(s) behind the individual pos-tures and gestures that comprise the basics of Balinese dance. It’s a wonderful way to expand one’s knowledge of the Bali-Hindu
culture while enjoying a bit of exercise. We’ll provide the music, the sash and the sarong, so come join us for a few hours of fun.
Discover the spiced flavors of Bali’s
virtually unknown cuisine. Classes offer
a fascinating introduction in to the
exotic ingredients and unique culinary
heritage of Bali. They provide a valua-
ble insight into the various techniques
of food preparation and the cooking
style used in our island homes. Classes
start with an early morning visit to the
local vegetable and fish market where
many of the ingredients are purchased
for the day’s program, including spices, meat, chicken, cakes and the freshest available
seafood. Visitors will witness and experience the very busy, early morning activities of
the local community, who is eager to finish their shopping well before 8.00 am. The next
stop will be on the beach with Ibu Nyoman who is collecting the fish from the returning
fishing fleet. No fish will make it into our shopping basket that has not crystal clear eyes
and carries the freshness of the wide ocean.
After a satisfying breakfast of Balinese cakes, fruits, black rice pudding and a bowl of
tender sweet rice flour dumplings in palm sugar coconut sauce, we will leave the com-
fort of the dining pavilion and enter the wide open Balinese kitchen. Dressed in black
