BRUCE CHAMBERLAIN, professor emeritus of music at the University of Arizona, retired in May 2018 after 41 years as a director of choral activities in higher education. This legacy includes universities in Texas, Kentucky, Iowa and the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music, where he also served as associate director. Dr. Chamberlain has conducted choirs with international orchestras in the world’s finest concert venues, including the Musikverein, the Rudolphinum, the Liszt Academy, The Art Hall in Seoul, the Jerusalem Theatre, and New York City’s

Avery Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall. His choirs have performed at national and regional conferences of ACDA, AGO and NAfME and his graduate students were finalists and/or winners of the ACDA National Conducting Competition seven times; he has over 80 doctoral and master’s graduates conducting in universities, secondary schools, churches, and professional/community choirs in the United States and on five continents.

Dr. Chamberlain’s distinguished teaching has been recognized by the University of Arizona as the winner of the Fred Fox School of Music Maestro Award, the College of Fine Arts James Anthony Award and the UA Humanities Seminars Program’s Outstanding Teacher Award. This record of outstanding pedagogy has led to summer faculty appointments at the Varna International Academy and the International Conducting Institute at Westminster Choir College.

Professionally, Chamberlain was the music director of the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and is the founding director of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Chorus. He has collaborated with virtually every major arts producer in Tucson including UA Presents, Artifact, Tucson Symphony Orchestra and True Concord Voices & Orchestra.

CHAD SHOOPMAN is the associate director of bands and director of athletic bands at the University of Arizona. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in music education and Master of Music degree in conducting performance from the University of Arizona. He further studied choral and orchestral conducting at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

Professionally, Shoopman worked for the Walt Disney World Company, conducting and performing on countless multimillion-dollar studio projects for Walt Disney World,

Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Disney Cruise Lines. He was also a conductor, clinician, performer, arranger, and choreographer for hundreds of live shows throughout the Walt Disney World Resort from 1999 to 2016. In 2010, Shoopman was appointed music director and conductor of the Brass Band of Central Florida. Under his baton, the BBCF won a U.S. national championship, recorded three albums, and earned the ranking of 13th best brass band in the world; the highest placement any band outside of Great Britain has ever achieved. Professor Shoopman also enjoyed performing with and conducting orchestras throughout the state of Florida including the Orlando Philharmonic, the Naples Philharmonic and the Florida Orchestra. Shoopman appears regularly as lead trumpet for world renowned jazz bands including Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Buddy Rich Big Band, and the hr-Big Band in Frankfurt, Germany. He has been a guest-conductor, adjudicator, and clinician throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, France and Australia.
