Think About the Risk!
“When one person dies it almost always creates afinancial hardship for someone else, be it a spouse,
child or business partner”The main culprit – Loss of income.
It makes no sense to assign that risk to your family. How will they replace your income?
Transfer the risk instead to an insurance companythrough a policy that will deliver the funds precisely
when needed. It just makes good sense._____________________

Farewell to Barb Kozincski
Sometimes it seems like neighbors come andgo in Arbor Greene, but the one thing that hasremained constant through Arbor Green’s 15year history has been Barbara Kozincski, thecommunities administrative manager. Barb hasbeen here since the original roads were dugand the first house went up. Barb saw everyvillage built, has come to know hundreds of ourresidents and has remained a mainstay of ourcommunity all these years. After almost 15years with us, Barb decided to retire at the endof 2011 to enjoy more time with her family andfriends, and to probably catch a few more Raysgames!
And Hello to Claudia Mayo
Though impossible to replace Barb’s wealth ofknowledge regarding Arbor Greene, ClaudiaMayo has joined our staff as Bob Farrell’s newAdministrative Mananger. Claudia and herfamily moved here from Atlanta last year, where she worked in the pharmaceuticalindustry for many years. Claudia brings to theposition knowledge and experience that will bewell utilized as the community continues toevolve. Her family, the beach and antique cars(yes, that's her in that 1950 Dodge Coronetdriving through AG!) are what she most enjoysin her spare time. Stop in and say hi to Claudia!

MORE VANDALISMIN CARRIAGE HOMES/
BENITO PARK
Carriage Homes/Benito Park, has againbeen victimized by the senseless crime ofarson. On December 4th at about 4:15pm
the parks’ slide was set afire. The MO is similar to other park fires: mulch is piled onthe slide, along with some type of starter (usually paper) and a fire is started. Boththe Tampa Fire and Police Departments responded, but the fire had been put out byresidents. Police are investigating the crime and charges will be pressed if theculprit (s) are apprehended. This was the second slide in the Carriage Homes/Benitopark to be burned this year. Damage from both arson incidents, to replace play-ground equipment, will be well over $5,000 this year.Remember when you see suspicious activity call 231-6130 and report it to the police!

GO GREEN FOR THE NEW YEAR
Most people would like to live a more eco-friendly life. If you're looking for ways to start theNew Year a little greener, you may be surprised to discover that there are several practicalways to increase your environmental responsibility in the new year andbeyond.
Turn Down Your Hot Water HeaterThere's a good chance your hot water heater is set too high. Jessica Jenson,CEO of the consumer website lowimpactliving.com, tells CNBC news thatmost people should lower their hot water heater temperature to around 120 F.According to the Department of Energy, lowering your hot water heater just 10degrees can save you somewhere between 3 and 5 percent in your energycosts.
Upgrade Your Shower HeadSwitching to a high-efficiency shower head can save you 3,000 gallons ofwater per person in your house and $50 in energy costs every year, saysJason Pelletier, a LEED-certified auditor. You'll also reduce the amount ofcarbon dioxide generated by your home by around 1,000 lbs. per person, says Pelletier.
Switch to Refillable Writing InstrumentsAccording to "Good Housekeeping" magazine, more than 1.5million pens end up in the trash every year. You can reduce yourpersonal garbage by choosing pens and pencils that can be refilledand opting for refilling instead of tossing your writing instrumentswhen they run out of writing power.
Don't Toss ElectronicsResist the urge to constantly upgrade your computer, cell phone andother electronic devices. When you do decide to upgrade, donate yourused electronics instead of throwing them away. Electronics containmercury and other toxins that can pose an environmental hazard whenthey're discarded, according to the World Watch Institute.
Clean Up Your RideCarpooling, biking, public transportation and hybrid vehicles canhelp reduce your fuel use, but so can checking your tires, saysPelletier. Properly inflated tires combined with clean oil and airfilters and responsible driving practices can increase your fuelefficiency by as much as 25 percent.

WHITE DEER SEEN IN ARBOR GREENE
Have you seen the
ghostly white fawn
roaming through Arbor
Greene? It’s been seen
by a few residents,
including John Hussey
of the Arbor Greene
Maintenance Staff.
Due to some brown markings seen on it’s
body, it is believed to be a genetically
mutated white deer. A true albino deer is
pigment less, has a pure white coat and
pink eyes. While rare, a genetically
mutated white deer is more common than
an albino deer. If you see the white deer,
take a picture and send it to the:

Message from your Neighborhood Watch: Paul and Hally Boucher, Directors
As we approach a new year, we would like to thank all Arbor Greene (AG) residents who have joined and supportedthe AG Neighborhood Watch Association (NWA) and have selflessly given their own free time to help keep AG agreat place to live. We certainly appreciate your help and willingness to get involved in the program. Tampa MayorBob Buckhorn and Tampa Police Department (TPD) Chief Jane Castor have recognized the positive results of yourefforts to support the AG Neighborhood Watch (NWA) program. AG was presented with the 2011 TPD District-2(North Tampa) Outstanding NWA Award, one of three awards presented for all of Tampa. This is an award whichreflects community efforts to hinder criminals and reduce crime in Tampa. AG was praised for active communicationwith the TPD and among NWA members, acting as TPD’s “eyes and ears” and immediately reporting suspiciousperson(s), activities, and crimes. This communication was recognized for helping to identify criminal suspects andsolving several crimes.
At the awards ceremony, Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Chief Castor praised all Tampa NWA members for their effortsto assist the TPD and for making Tampa a better and safer place to live. They both noted that without the help ofNWA groups, the local crime rates would climb, especially in these hard economic times. They stated that NWAgroups are integral to helping the TPD hinder and stop crimes. Chief Castor also explained that other major city po-lice departments come to Tampa specifically to learn how TPD operations have reduced crime through collaborationwith local communities. Chief Castor praised NWA groups for helping the TPD accomplish that mission.
As noted in past articles, communication with the TPD and AG NWA is key to impeding and even stopping crime.Communication among AG NWA members is a critical ingredient to the success of any NWA program. This commu-nication is required in order to share information among residents and the TPD about suspicious person(s) and ac-tivities in our community. There are at least two primary things you can do to help AG NWA achieve the goalsof deterring and stopping crime.
First, if you see suspicious person(s) or activity, report it immediately by calling the TPD’s Suspicious Activ-ity line (813-231-6130). If you believe a crime is about to be committed or has been committed against per-son(s) or property, then immediately dial 9-1-1. In either case, call police from a safe location and DO NOTCONFRONT the suspicious person(s). Police will be looking for the following information: suspect(s) gender, age, race, clothing, height, weight, etc. as well as suspect(s) vehicle (including make, model, year, color, license platenumber, etc.), if any, so be prepared to provide a description(s). The TPD repeatedly remind us that we are their“eyes and ears” and should look for and report suspicious activity to help them deter criminals. Free NWArefrigerator magnets are available at the AG Clubhouse which list these and other important emergencyphone numbers.
Second, join the AG NWA by signing up as part of the AG NWA email group. You will receive emails about sus-picious or criminal activity in AG, additional security tips and other relevant information from the TPD. If you join thedistro group, it will also allow you to be more timely informed about significant events and communicate with the AGNWA leaders.
Please email us at [email protected] with your full name and the AG sub-community you reside in.Joining this email group does not obligate you to any other NWA activity, but should help you and your family to be-come better informed and more secure.
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to working with you in the new year!

against the law and can unwittingly cause harm
to your neighbor’s pets and property. Please

The Southwest Florida Water Management District is offering six easy ways to keep you from running up your water bill.“It is especially important to conserve water during the winter, traditionally our dry season,” said Robyn Felix, the District’s mediarelations manager. “We can all make a difference by incorporating a few simple tips into our routines. ”Water plays a role in everythingfrom food preparation to the clean-up process. Here’s how to incorporate water conservation into your food preparations:
Defrost frozen foods in the refrigerator or the microwave instead of running hot water over them.
Rinse vegetables and fruits in a sink or pan filled with water instead of under running water. This water can then be reused to water
houseplants. A running faucet can use up to 4 gallons per minute.
When washing dishes by hand, fill one sink or basin with soapy water and fill the rinsing sink one-third to one-half full. Avoid letting
the water run continuously in the rinsing sink.
Select the proper size pans for cooking. Large pans require more cooking water than may be necessary.
Scrape food scraps into the garbage can or a composting bin, rather than rinsing them into the sink’s garbage disposal. A garbage
disposal uses up to 4.5 gallons of water per minute.
Run your dishwasher only when you have a full load. Dishwashers use between 7 and 12 gallons per load.
For more water conservation tips and the current water restrictions, please visit the District’s website at WaterMatters.org/conservation/.
