THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND NAMIBIA DISTRICT

2019 CAMP MEETING REPORT

INTRODUCTION The annual camp meeting convention is always a time members of the Apostolic Faith Church looked forward

to. God in His old time way has never failed to bless in an old time way. This year’s camp meeting was not an

exception with the manifestation of God’s power in blessing the “whosoever will”. The camp meeting was

titled “A Life Without Blemish”

Sunday, 28 April 2019

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The meeting started with the congregation singing “Tis So Sweet to trust in Jesus” and “Stand up, stand up for

Jesus,” The lesson titled The Lord’s Day was taught in various language classes, these include: English ,

Oshiwambo and Portuguese classes.

DEVOTIONAL SERVICE

Devotional service was

opened with an organ

prelude, the orchestra played

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God

Almighty. This was followed

by a choir song “Tis

Marvelous”, then a duet

Cleanse Me. The

congregational songs

rendered include, Are you

washed in the Blood, Jesus

Lover of my soul and Take me

as I am. The choir sang an anthem A Clean Heart, before Bible reading and

a special song was rendered by a quintet, Called unto Holiness, before the

sermon.

The sermon was delivered by Reverend Joseph Jegede, the Namibia

country District Superintendent. The sermon was titled, The Cry of the Watchmen. The main text was taken

from Ezekiel 33:1-9 and Isaiah 58:1.

Excerpt: “The Christians who have been saved and redeemed by the blood are watchmen. They are to warn the

world and plead with them to turn from their iniquity. Today, as watchmen, we are telling you in love, to anyone

who is not yet saved, that the Lord hates sin, and you must turn away from your wickedness and repent. Regular

attendance of camp meetings and church services is not a license for Heaven. Unless you repent and be saved,

you will perish (Matthew 3:2). We should not delay nor harden our hearts; as was the case with Pharaoh and

Ahab, who received their due judgements for refusing to heed the warnings of the watchmen.”

YOUTH SERVICE

The youth choir service presented a music prelude with three songs, Fully Alive, Ancient Words and Great is

Thy Faithfulness. After the opening prayer, the congregation was led into a special selection of praise and

worship songs, including Praise my soul the King of Heaven, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Let us with a gladsome

mind, Shout to the Lord, Hosanna in the Highest; and in between songs, individual youths stood up to recite

psalms, including psalm 95:1-6, psalm 138: 1-8, psalm 149: 1-9, and psalm 147: 1-5.

The sermon was given by

Brother Samuel Jegede; with

the title Earnestly Contending

for the Faith that was once

Delivered to the Saints. The

main texts were Jude 1:3 and

Proverbs 23:10.

Excerpt: “Our Christian

foundation has its roots from

thousands of years back. We

read of the apostles and their

great works for God. We also

have a very rich history of the

Apostolic Faith Church, where

we read of our mother Crawford

and other brethren

who answered God’s call and

wrought mighty works in His

name and for His glory. Today,

we serve the very same God;

and if we apply the same

formulas that our predecessors

did, we can get the same results.

We must fight to acquire and

defend the faith that was

delivered to us (Matthew

11:12). If you have never come

to God, now is your chance;

come and see. Maybe you were

once close to God and have

strayed away. No matter how

far you may have gone, believe

that He can and wants to forgive

you.

EVENING SERVICE

The evening service was opened with a male violin soloist who played Stand up for Jesus, “Themes From the

Water Music”. This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus

Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly Abiding. The congregation joined with three songs: All

Hail the Power of Jesus’ name, Jesus Saves and Revive us Again.

Page 3: THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND · This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly

The Special song was rendered by the male choir:

Send us a Revival, Oh Lord. The sermon titled The

True Condition of our Hearts; was delivered by

Brother Lordick Motshidisi, the Botswana Country

District Superintendent. The main text was taken

from Jeremiah 17:9-11.

Excerpt: If we look around the evils of our society,

we can agree with verse 9 of the text that they are

results of the hearts of men. None of us truly knows

the condition of our hearts. It matters not what

position we hold at church, our age or status; our

hearts are desperately sinful. But if we come to

God, He is merciful to forgive. Only He is able to

change our hearts (Ezekiel 36: 26-27). Maybe you

have tried all means and gone to all places

imaginable, in search of relief. Come to God and He

will do it for you. He will give you a heart that will

find delight in serving and obeying His commands.

You may be in your best behaviour and do

everything right in men’s eyes; but when God looks

at you, He looks deep in your heart, and He says

that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked,

and He can change it (Isiah 43: 25-26). Do not

harden your heart. Tomorrow may be too late.

Come today, allow the Lord to work in your heart

like a surgeon. Jesus is here tonight. He is listening

for those who will come to Him, with honesty,

readiness and willingness for a new heart.

Monday, 29 April 2019 Workers’ Conference

At 10 a.m. the workers and ministers gathered for a special meeting. The topic Fit for the Master's use was

anchored by Rev. Evans Mlhanga.

Excerpt: “Anyone who desires to work for the Lord must be qualified to do so. Just as normal employment

institutions require something from anyone who works for them, it is the same with God. There are certain

specific criteria that he requires of anyone who will work in His Vineyard. We must be in tune with God. As

servants, we should remain in a position where God can still communicate with us, and not ask us like He did

with Adam, "where art thou?" we have to be chosen by God (John 15:16). We need to commit ourselves 100%

to God, lest the devil takes chances with us (II Corinthians 2:11). Every chosen vessel has a role to play.

Whatever our portion, we should do it with joy, diligence and faithfulness. "We should never fail to ask

ourselves, do I still qualify? Do I still measure up to the Master's standards? Am I still producing fruit?" all

these questions are properly answered by God alone. May the Lord help us to qualify, to remain faithful, to

work diligently and faithfully, and to always produce fruit for His glory.”

Camp Music Concert

Music concert has been a useful evangelism tool for this church, and annual camp meeting concert is an event to

look forward to. In order to have a one-on-one tune experience with the various music instruments, the

programme featured several instrument solo performances, including the violin, the flute, the French horn, the

trombone, trumpet, and clarinet.

At the end of the concert program, a short message was delivered by Rev. Zacchaeus Oyedokun. The message

was titled Your Spiritual Identity.

Page 4: THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND · This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly

Excerpt: “We thank God very much for the wonderful music we have listened to. We wonder how it shall be in

heaven. No doubt in heaven it will be wonderful! When we meet someone, we later tend to remember them by

their dressing, by their face and sometimes by the names only. It is important to remember others. But the most

important question is, how does God remember you? Does He look at your dressing, your academic

qualifications, your gender? Does He look at your social status, your monetary value, your beauty and your

career? No. So how does God look at you? By what will He remember you? The Bible tells us in Malachi

chapter 3:16 that God has a book of remembrance. But what does He remember about you? In the world, we

carry identity cards. These cards contain basic information about us such as our names, our date of birth,

nationality, and physical characteristics. With God, we have spiritual identity cards, and they have none of the

Page 5: THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND · This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly

details similar to our worldly cards. Therefore we must be very careful about the state of our hearts; because it

is our spiritual identity, and that is where God will look at, that is how He will remember us, and it is what He

will use to determine where we shall spend our eternity when we stand before Him on that great Judgement

Day.”

Bible Teaching

The service was opened by a brass ensemble with the song titled Just a Little Talk with Jesus. This was

followed by the choir rendition of Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness. The congregation joined with the

hymns Take Time to be Holy and My All Is on the Altar.

A duet sang the special song Whiter Than Snow and it was followed by the teaching on Sanctification, delivered

by Rev. Zacchaeus Oyedokun.

Excerpt: Leviticus 20:7. The Gospel is evidence-based and benefit-

driven. The Lord will always show us the benefits of living a life with

Him and equally tell us what is required of us. Psalm 15:1-5. Holiness

should be a lifestyle although it begins spontaneously through the

experience that the Lord gives us when He uproots our Adamic nature.

There are three reasons why we should be sanctified: It is God's

command, it is in our own interest and it is a requirement if we would like

to see God (Hebrews 12:13). The evidence of sanctification: the Spirit

will bear witness (Romans 8:16-17), bitterness will be uprooted from our

hearts so that we love everyone, even our enemies; we become dead to sin

and alive to righteousness (Romans 6:6). It is our responsibility to

maintain it daily like a fire that should never go out. Just as the Lord

kindled the fire of the altar in the tabernacle of Israel and the priests had

to maintain and make sure it never went out, we should do the same to the

fire of sanctification in our hearts. We maintain the fire through

consecration, the renewal of our minds with the word of God and we

should walk closely with God.”

Evening Service

The organ prelude was followed by a violin duet which played Whiter Than Snow. Then the choir sang Happy

Day, followed by the female choir with Bigger Than all my Mountains. The congregation joined with Showers

of Blessing and Pass me not o Gentle Saviour.

Bro. Fefe delivered a sermon titled Are You in the Light or in the Darkness?

Excerpt: “Are you moving in the light or in the darkness? Light and darkness

cannot coexist. They cannot share the same room. II Corinthians 6:14. If you say

you are saved and the works of darkness are in you, you are a liar. Jesus is the only

light of the world (John 8:12). He's the only light that gives life. If you want life,

then you must have Him. Darkness can never withstand light. Light is always

greater and Jesus is the greatest light (John 1:4-5). We read in II Samuel 5, how the

Philistines placed the Ark of the Lord in the Temple of Dagon. Dagon could not

withstand the presence of the Lord. When you have God in your life, every work of

darkness will not stand in His presence, it must leave. How are you walking,

talking and what are you doing? Is it light or darkness influencing you? If you have

lost that light, or it has gone dim, Jesus is still the light. He can rekindle your light

and make it shine bright.”

Bible Teaching:

A clarinet soloist rendered the song Fairest Lord Jesus, after the organ prelude. This was followed by a choir

song -Come Holy Spirit. The semi choir sang Let the Fire Fall and again the choir sang the anthem The Old

time Fire.

Rev. Lordick Motshidisi delivered a teaching on The baptism on the Holy Spirit.

Excerpt: Matthew 28: 18-20. It is worth underlying the words in verse 18 that says "all power". Jesus alone has

all the power. The baptism symbolises submission to the Lord. It showed willingness to walk in the ways of

Christ. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is essential for soldiers of Christ to go to war. Our mandate is to go to the

world and preach the Gospel and we cannot do that properly unless we are baptised. If we are to be effective

workers in all areas of God's ministry, we need power and that power can only come through the baptism of the

Holy Spirit.

Youth Service:

The orchestra opened the service with All the way my Saviour Leads Me. Then

the children rendered two songs, Make Me A Shining Light to the Nations, and

Hallelujah, for the Lord God Almighty Reigns. The youth choir sang Onward

Christian Soldiers and they were joined by the congregation with Hosanna in the

Highest and Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.

A female duet Do You Know My Jesus? preceded the sermon by Bro. Tendani

Monyatsi. The sermon was entitled The Great Repairer.

Excerpt: “We have just heard a beautiful song by our sisters. The song asks, are

you burdened? Do you have a heart that is weary? Are there problems in your

life that do not seem to go away? Some of us are still victims of the devil's

schemes and it seems our cases are hopeless. Today I would like to talk about

Someone who is able to solve all these. Jesus Christ, the Great Repairer. Genesis

1:26-27. All humans are God's creation. We were created perfectly.

Unfortunately, sin crept in and we lost God's perfect image and our union with Him. Praise the Lord, that was

not the end. Jesus died that we might have freedom. And today we ask, do you know this Jesus? Do you have

Him in your life? Because he's able to solve anything that you may be facing. It doesn't matter how long you

have been in that situation, it doesn't matter how impossible it looks. The Great Repairer can do anything.

Ezekiel 37:1-14. There seemed to be no hope in that valley of bones. But the power of the Lord brought that

valley to life and an army of people was resurrected. Today, your life may be like that valley of dry bones. The

Lord is willing and ready to speak life to it. Would you like to come and receive life?”

Bible Teaching:

The morning teaching was delivered by Bro. Evans Mlhanga and it was titled Walking With God.

Excerpt: “Walking together requires an agreement first. Men of old such as Noah, Abraham, Job, and others,

walked with God. But in Genesis 5:24 we are told of a man who defied all odds by walking with God to a point

where God took him without him seeing death. The life of Enoch challenges us to enter into this walk with God.

Enoch maintained discipline and commitment throughout his days as a bachelor and then as a married man with

children. We too can cultivate a walk with God even in this busy-laden era we live in. Every day of our lives,

may our utmost cry be "Just a closer walk with Thee".

Page 7: THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND · This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly

Evening Service

Bro. Christopher delivered a sermon titled The Foundation.

Excerpt: Reference was made about Nicodemus in the book of John 3:3-7, where he understood the importance

of having a fixed foundation of anything in life. At this stage, he wanted to know the foundation of inheriting

Eternal Life. Jesus pointed to him the real and solid foundation which is salvation, the born again experience. It

is still true today, that we need to build our lives on a solid Foundation if we are to secure ourselves while on

Earth, as well as for eternity later. Nicodemus went to the right Foundation Builder: Jesus. We too can run to

Jesus the Solid Rock of Ages for our eternal secured foundation of salvation, and heaven will be ours to claim

and build for.”

Bible Teaching

As the service began, a procession of praise and adoration was delivered by the choir and then the whole

congregation.

Rev. Joseph Jegede delivered the Bible Teaching titled

Enduring Hardship.

Excerpt: “Based on 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, we realise

that when the Lord saves us, He calls us as soldiers of

the Cross. We should not be afraid. Times of trial,

temptation, afflictions, among others, will surely come;

but the Bible tells us that they are light afflictions. Each

of us at one point will be confronted by the enemy's

opposition. But let us always remember that the Lord

told Paul that His grace was sufficient for him and it is

for us too. Moments of hardship are to make us strong.

Our faith will be tested during many stages of life,

including within our family, as was the case for me and

my wife; but as we clung to God, He gave us victory. We

should be encouraged by the example in the Bible of

those who endured hardship, including Naomi, Ruth, Joseph, and above all, Jesus, our supreme example. May

we be among those who will aspire to stick with God through times of hardship.”

Youth Service

In the afternoon, the last Youth Service of the Camp Meeting started with wonderful music prelude as songs

were rendered joyfully unto the Lord.

Bro. Agostinho Cassinda gave the word of exhortation based on Proverbs 23:26, “God wants all our heart to be

given to Him; not just 50% or 90% but all of it. He has a lot more for us than what we have now, but He is

waiting for the heart that will give all, in order to have all that He has to give.”

Evening Service

In the evening, a revival and evangelistic service took place. The choir and congregational songs were rendered

joyfully unto the Lord. It was promptly followed by testimonies.

The Sermon was delivered by Bro. Zac Chiliandombe, and he preached about The Vision of Jacob, referenced

from Genesis 28:10-15.

Page 8: THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND · This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly

Excerpt: “Jacob encountered God at Bethel and he caught a glimpse of the future that prompted him to make a

vow unto God. Later on, he lived and enjoyed the results of the prayer made at Bethel. Today as well, we will

be better off if we pray before crises come. The vision of God that you will have today, will be your reference in

the future. Therefore, pray today and catch a glimpse of Heaven.”

Saturday, 04 May 2019

Baptismal Service:

The Baptismal service followed after, in obedience to the Lord's injunction, 6 people were baptised. We pray

the Lord will make them good Kingdom ambassadors as they live for Him.

Sunday, 05 May 2019

Sunday School:

Different classes were allocated and the lesson titled Consecration was taught. Bro. Avelino Sossingo taught the

English class, Bro. Domingos Kambungo taught the Portuguese class, sister Helena Thomas the Oshiwambo

class and sister Foibe Kalumbo the primary pals.

Devotional Service:

The morning devotional service followed shortly.

The choir rendered the music prelude and the

children too joined in the singing with their special

song If I can help somebody with a word or song

then my living would not be in vain. The Namibia

district superintendent, Rev. Joseph Jegede

extended appreciation and vote of thanks to

everyone that graced the Camp Meeting with their

presence and contributions in any way possible;

that only God the great rewarder would

recompense all. This was followed by scripture

reading from the Book of Ephesians 6:10-18. The

final special song, titled I am on the battlefield for

my Lord was rendered by Bro. Seyi Olowoniwa.

The song was followed by the final sermon which

was titled Consistent Christian Living, by Rev. Zac

Oyedokun.

Excerpt: “Jude 24-25. It is good to be saved. We have come to the Camp meeting and received our blessings.

But we need to know how we can go and win the battle in the Devil's background. God's investment in you is to

help you be a winner at all times and to bring treasures of souls of men into the bank of Heaven. To be

consistent in the Christian walk, we should learn to walk by faith, not by feelings or sight (II Corinthians 5:7).

Everything else is temporal but faith in God is forever. As Abraham walked with God, he was not weak in faith

but was persuaded that the promises of God were true. (Romans 4: 18-22). If you stick with the word of God,

your faith will not fail you. As you go, be persuaded that the God that saved you is able to keep you and present

you faultless to God the Father at His appearing. The Apostle Paul said he was running a race and was sure of

victory through self-control and keeping the devil on the run (I Corinthians 6:12; 9:24). Using of faith as we use

our muscles, confronting to conquer and being a member of the winning team through fellowship are other

strategies that will help us win all the time, and come back with victory next year and eventually to a fruitful life

that will win us a crown in heaven.

At the end of the sermon, the altar call was made, and people prayed to their satisfaction. Lunch for all was

served and delegates from various places were ready to depart thereafter.”

GOD DID IT FOR ME!

“I was born in the Gospel, but that did not make me a Christian. Once

there was no food at home, and we were going through a hard time. I

decided to prove the God whom I saw my parents faithfully worship

and serve. I said “Lord, if you are really there, provide for us”.

Immediately I finished praying, I searched the kitchen cabinets and

found a bag of mealie meal. That and other evidences has led me to

finally accept Christ as my personal Saviour. He keeps me, protects me,

heals me when I’m sick, and He’s my best Friend. I hope to be with

Him in glory.” [Tendani Mamphiswana – South Africa]

“I thank the Lord for saving, sanctifying and baptising me with the

Holy Ghost. In 2016, I left my employment and felt the Lord leading me

to work in His vineyard, in the form of a pre-school where I can be a

positive influence to little ones. However, I had to go for training, in

order to learn how to operate the computer at work. Again, I had to go

back to school for a course in early childhood development. I was the

oldest in my class, and the youngsters would tease and aim banters at

me. The Lord was faithful and I completed the course successfully. He continues to keep and guide me as I keep

working for His glory.”

[Gaboipewe Mmatlala – Botswana]

“I thank the Lord that the Gospel was preached to me and I was saved from my self-righteousness and worldly

pleasures. I became a new creature, and life was never the same since. My prayer is that I and all of us here

today will be with God in glory.” [Helena Thomas - Namibia].

“I thank the Lord for what He has done for me. I was a very naughty boy; I did things I was ashamed of, and I

could not confide in anyone about them. Finally, I was invited by my brother who was drastically changed after

his conversion. That day the sermon was about Jesus' return. I knew that if He were to return right that moment

I would not have made it to Heaven. And so I prayed through and the Lord saved me and later sanctified and

baptised me with the Holy Ghost. Since then I did not have to struggle to change and turn from evil.”

[Lameck Mavuka - Zimbabwe]

“I thank God for bringing me the second time to the Namibia camp meeting. When Jesus touched my life, I was

changed completely from my sinful ways. He saved me and sanctified me and has kept me. He gave me a

beautiful wife and yesterday was our 8th anniversary. God has been so good to us and we thank Him for

everything.” [Abel Bosha - Zimbabwe].

“I want to thank God for my life. I was raised by my grandmother who taught me to read the Bible but it did not

change me. It was many years later during a Camp Meeting like this in 2001 when God saved me. He later

sanctified and baptised me. He has been my God, my provider, and my protector. In this Camp Meeting, I am

energised and immensely encouraged. All glory goes to God.” [Lovisa Uukelo - Namibia].

“I want to thank God for saving, sanctifying, and baptising me. I thank Him for His healing power and keeping

power. I would like to testify to the power of God to answer prayer. We noticed how a while ago the worship

communication gadget was not working. I did everything I could but it just wouldn't work and the songs could

not be displayed. Then I decided to abandon my own knowledge and whispered a prayer of help to God. As

Page 10: THE APOSTOLIC FAITH OF PORTLAND · This was followed by a song by the Angolan choir delegates with a Portuguese song titled Jesus Christ, Master, Lord. This was followed by Constantly

soon as I was done, everything came back to normal. This incident has taught me again that we should never

rely on ourselves no matter how much we know. God is bigger and greater and He always has the solution.

Please pray with me. I want to be with Him in glory.” [Kemi Olowoniwa - Namibia]

“Thank God for saving, sanctifying and baptising me. I thank Him for providing for my needs and helping me to

live without sin. I thank Him for protecting me in the Streets of South Africa, with its reported reputation of

danger and crime. Please pray for me so that I may also make heaven my home.”

[Veronica Makamu - South Africa].

“I thank God for my life; for salvation, sanctification, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He has been with me

always, he has provided for me, has protected me and has led me. I have recently opened my business, and the

Lord has helped me to do it righteously. It has now been six months, and He has been helping me along. The

going is tough, but with God, all things are possible. Please pray for me that I may continue to stand.”

[Hofni Nguvenjengua - Namibia].

“I want to thank God that at Camp Meeting like this in Angola, I was challenged that I was not going to

minister effectively as a choir member if I was not saved. The thought of that hurt me deeply and I was moved to

pray and God saved my soul. I thank God for bringing me to this Camp Meeting once again, despite the lack of

means, which He provided for. Pray with me to continue in this Gospel way.” [Romão Sacaia - Angola].

“I would like to thank God for finding me in my youth. I was born in this Gospel, but that did not make me pure.

But at the right time, God saved me. He also sanctified and filled me with the Holy Ghost. This is my first time

in the Namibia camp meeting. I am revived in this place and I wish we could just go on and on. Please pray for

me, I want to make heaven my home.” [Mulalo - South Africa].

“I thank God who brought me into this Gospel through a friend's invitation after I arrived in Namibia from my

native country Congo. The Lord saved my soul. He had been helping me in my academic endeavour, and by His

grace, I have recently completed my Master's degree. I am thankful for the opportunity to be in this Camp

Meeting, and it is such a privilege to be able to testify to God's goodness in the congregation of the Saints. “

[ Joris - Namibia].

CONCLUSION:

Only God has the accurate record of this year’s camp meeting blessings. From available record, 6 got saved, 1

sanctified and 3 baptised with Holy Ghost and fire. God did not fail to honour His words, as the success of the

camp meeting is another evidence that God is bigger than all our fears, cares and concerns. We pray that the

Great God of heaven will preserve the camp meeting blessings and sustain the church, as we determined to lift

up His name in our various corners, so that God can draw men unto Himself and expand His Kingdom.
