It has been a great pleasure to host The American Guild of Judaic Art, Southern States Membership Exhibition here at The Rosenzweig Gallery in honor of the Guild’s 20th anniversary in 2011. Guild artists from six southern states responded to our invitation with great diversity of media and approaches, yet, all the work presented encompassed strong Judaic inspirational themes.
The Rosenzweig Gallery at Judea Reform Congrega-tion in Durham, North Carolina, serves to build and promote Jewish learning and outreach by commu-nicating through visual art the richness and depth of Judaism in both traditional and contemporary media and format. Visual art is seen as another form of Midrash, a story or interpretation that expresses Jewish content and values.

The American Guild of Judaic Art serves as a resource for contemporary Jewish art. We promote a greater understanding of the Jewish tradition and religion through the visual arts. The Rosenzweig Gallery offers a unique opportunity to fulfill this educational outreach to the Durham/Chapel Hill and surrounding areas in North Carolina and neighboring southern states.
The connections we make for those who create Judaic-inspired art to those who collect and appreciate it builds Hiddur Mitzvah beautifying our public and private spaces for the present and for future generations.
