From the Pastor’s Desk… Water is fundamental for human existence. Water was given to Moses so that the people of Israel could survive in the desert. The woman in this Sunday’s gospel was also in search of water. She was thirsty! But her thirst was not for the mere nature’s element. She was thirty for healing. This woman, the Samaritan, reaches the well full of pride, embittered, with hatred towards the Jews, looking for love in the wrong places and with the failure of several relationships. At the moment with her encounter with Christ, she still was having an adulterous relationship. She was hurt, resentful. She was thirsty. And it was Christ who speaks to this woman, breaking all social and cultural convention concerning the prohibition of speaking to a woman in public without her husband or another masculine presence. Jesus leads her to her difficult life and her “own tumultuous waters” and brings her to reveal her truthful heart. What six relationships, six men, couldn’t accomplish, Jesus makes it possible when she humbly abandons herself to the mercy of God. He gives her hope and offers her waters that will never end, the kind that produces and nourishes faith… Waters of salvation.

Scriptures says that “many Samaritans believed

through the testimony of this woman. Once she had a

real, legitimate, encounter with God, she becomes

an evangelizer. Her faith brings her to share the great

treasure that she had found. She becomes a

messenger of the Good News. The one who in the

past was vilified by the community because of her

passions, moral shortcomings and personal miseries,

today rises up, victorious after drinking the waters,

transformed to help others to “go to the waters”.

God, give us of that water so that we shall never

thirst.

Del Escritorio del Párroco… El agua es fundamental para la subsistencia human. El agua fue dada a Moisés para que el pueblo de Israel pudiera sobrevivir en el desierto. La mujer del evangelio de este domingo también estaba en la búsqueda de agua. Ella tenía sed. Pero no sed del mero elemento producto de la naturaleza. Sino sed de sanación. Esta mujer, la Samaritana, llega

al pozo llena de orgullo, amargada, con odio hacia los judíos, buscando el amor en lugares equivocados y con el fracaso de varias relaciones. En el momento de su encuentro con Cristo, todavía estaba manteniendo una relación adúltera. Ella estaba herida, resentida. Ella tenía sed. Y fue Cristo quien sostiene un diálogo con esta mujer, rompiendo toda convención social y cultural al hablarle en público sin su esposo u otra presencia masculina. Jesús la guía a través de su vida dificultosa y “sus propias aguas turbulentas” y la lleva a revelar su verdadero corazón. Lo que no pudieron hacer seis relaciones, seis hombres, lo logra Cristo cuando ella con humildad se abandona a la misericordia de Dios. Le da esperanza y le ofrece de la aguas que nunca se acaban, las que producen y nutren la fe… Las aguas de la salvación.

Dice la escritura que “muchos samaritanos creyeron

por el testimonio de esta mujer”. Una vez la

samaritana tiene un encuentro verdadero, legítimo,

con Dios, se convierte en una evangelizadora. Su fe

la lleva a compartir el gran tesoro que ha encontrado.

Se convierte en mensajera de la Buena Nueva. La

que en el pasado fue vilificada por la comunidad

debido a sus pasiones, derrotas morales y miserias

personales, hoy se levanta, victoriosa después de

haber bebido de las aguas, transformada para ayudar

a otros a “ir a las aguas”. Señor, danos de esa agua

para que nunca más tengamos sed.

The Lord's Peace be with you! Soon after starting my employment as St. Aloysius’ Coordinator of Religious Education, I subscribed to a publication called CATECHIST. This valuable magazine is organized with the help of volunteer catechists, and aims to help parish religious education program catechists and Catholic School teachers be more successful. Each monthly issue contains ideas that support classroom preparation and presentation, articles on craft ideas, patterns and prayer services, as well as catechetical formation articles on topics such as Scripture, the sacraments, liturgy and prayer, and Church history, dogma, and Tradition. I find it a very valuable and practical tool to share with the catechists teaching in our program. If interested, you can learn more by visiting their website at www.catechist.com.

¡La Paz del Señor esté con ustedes! Pronto después de haber comenzado mi empleo como Coordinador del programa de educación religiosa en nuestra parroquia de San Luís Gonzaga, comencé una suscripción a una publicación llamada a CATECHIST. Esta valiosa revista organizada con la ayuda de catequistas voluntarios, tiene como objetivo ayudar a catequistas de educación religiosa parroquiales y maestros de escuelas Católicas obtener más éxito. Cada publicación mensual contiene ideas de apoyo hacia preparación y presentación, artículos sobre ideas de arte, patrones y servicios de oración, así como artículos de formación catequética en temas como las Escrituras, los sacramentos, liturgia y oración e historia de la Iglesia, dogma y Tradición. Me parece una herramienta muy valiosa y práctica la cual trato de compartir con los catequistas en nuestro programa de enseñanza. Holy Thursday Adoration Tour

Hosted by the Young Adult Ministry

Following the evening Mass on April 13th, join the Holy Thursday Adoration Tour hosted by the Young Adult Ministry. The tour bus will depart from the Thiele Center at 8:30pm and visit local parishes to allow young adults and parishioners of all ages to visit this special night when churches open their doors for adoration until midnight. This year, the Adoration Tour will visit Holy Trinity, St. Mary of the Angels, St. Hedwig, and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Between stops, reflections will be led by members of YAM. To reserve your seat, register at the parish office or call (773) 278-4808. A $5 donation to help cover the cost of transportation is appreciated.

El recorrido para la Adoración del Jueves Santo

Presentado por el Ministerio de jóvenes adultos

Después de la Misa el 13 de abril, acompaña al Ministerio de jóvenes adultos en un recorrido para la Adoración del Jueves Santo. El recorrido será en autobús partirá del Centro Pastoral a las 8:30pm y visitará algunas parroquias para que los jóvenes y feligreses de todas las edades puedan visitar a las Iglesias que estén abiertas para la Adoración hasta la medianoche.

Este año, El recorrido para la Adoración visitará las Iglesias de Holy Trinity, St. Mary of the Angels, St. Hedwig, and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Sharing Parish Picnic with St Hubert Parish....

As you may know, St. Aloysius and St. Hubert has been hosting a sharing picnic for many years. This year it will take place on August 12th 2017 at St. Hubert. We are inviting all groups to participate as we seek to unite, fellowship, and enjoy each other’s ideas and support. Directors of the Institute will welcome you and discuss all aspects of the archdiocese’s deacon formation pro-gram, including application requirements and all ele-ments of the formation journey. Wives of potential ap-plicants are welcome and urged to attend.

Mardi Gras Thank You

In Christianity, Mardi Gras, is the last day before the beginning of Lent, a period of fasting and repentance leading to Easter, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This year we took the opportunity to name our most recent fund raiser Mardi Gras. This celebration was designed to generate much needed resources for parish operations and in so an opportunity to contribute intentionally to the finances of our community of faith. Everything was done with you in mind and with the hard labor of a committee and volunteers. I wish to express my gratitude to all those involved in this fundraiser which allowed us the amount of $20,000.00 to be used in the payment of utilities. Even though we are in need of more resources to pay fully that debt, we are grateful for the hard work, the camaraderie and the results of this activity. Many thanks. Vive Mardi Gras! Vive St. Aloysius!

Éxito de Mardi Gras

En el cristianismo, Mardi Gras, es el último día antes de comenzar la cuaresma, un periodo de ayuno y arrepentimiento que nos lleva a la Pascua, donde celebramos la resurrección de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Este año tomamos este concepto para nombrar a nuestra más reciente actividad pro fondos Mardi Gras. Esta celebración fue diseñada con el propósito de generar un ingreso muy necesitado para proveer a nuestras operaciones parroquiales y de esa manera contribuir intencionalmente a las finanzas de nuestra comunidad de fe. Todo fue planificado con ustedes en mente y ejecutado con la labor de un comité organizativo y voluntarios. Deseo expresar mi agradecimiento a todos aquellos envueltos en esta actividad la cual nos proveyó de $20,000.00 para el pago de nuestras utilidades. A pesar de que aún estamos en necesidad de más recursos para pagar en su totalidad esta deuda, estamos muy agradecidos por todo el trabajo, la camaradería y los resultados de esta actividad. The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Wednesday in the Thiele Center from 10am to noon. This group knits and crochets prayer shawls while praying individually and as a group for the recipient of each shawl. These shawls represent a visible symbol of our prayers and presence. Shawls have been given to those facing challenging times, illness or to celebrate a special moment to bring the comfort and warmth of God’s love and healing. El Ministerio Mantas de Oración se reúne todos los miércoles en el Centro Pastoral de 10am a medio día. Este grupo hace mantas de oración hechos de tejido o de ganchillo mientras rezan individualmente y como grupo para que el receptor de cada manta. Estas mantas representan un símbolo visible de nuestras oraciones y presencia. Las mantas se han dado a aquellos que enfrentan tiempos difíciles, enfermedad o para celebrar un momento especial para llevar el confort y la calidez del amor de Dios y la
