The eruption of Mt Saint Helens was on May 18, 1980. there was an earthquake, registered 5.1 on the Richter scale. 230 square miles was blown down by the eruption.

It was cheap, ready to use. it was also easier for drug dealers to make in 1981 , reports of crack were appearing all around the world.
