WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Welcome! Please fill out the “Welcome to Worship” registration form included in your bulletin and place completed forms in the offering plate later in the service.
PRELUDE “Morning Has Broken” Boud
*Call to Worship (Psalm 80, Hebrews 11–12, Luke 12 ) One: By faith, God’s people passed through the Red Sea. By faith, the walls of Jericho fell. Many: We come in faith, calling on the name of God to save us. One: Is a cloud rising in the west? Is the south wind blowing? Many: We come in faith, calling on the name of God to save us. One: We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who show us the way to run the race set before us. Many: Strengthen us, Holy One. Let your face shine upon us and keep us safe.
* OPENING HYMN “I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light” UMH 206
* OPENING PRAYER (Isaiah 5, Psalm 80, Hebrews 11–12 ) Shepherd of Israel, God of hosts, Spirit of faith, you lead us like a beacon on a dark and difficult road. Like a gardener, you have planted us and cared for us — nurturing the soil of our lives, and pruning our branches, that we might bring forth tender new shoots. You give us life and call us to bear good fruit — to administer justice, to quench the fires of hatred, and to live in love and service of the world. Help us run the race you have set before us, that we might join that great cloud of witnesses whose faith gave them the strength to show the world what it means to follow Jesus. Amen.
