FROM THE GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENTWinter is approaching and we are far from worrying about mowing grass but there is still plenty to do to maintain the golf course. With the cooler weather the turf has nearly stopped growing but managing moisture levels in the soil is still one of our top priorities. Desiccation may be the number one reason for winter injury on Bermuda grass and similar to when we are in the growing season we will be using meters to monitor the moisture levels of the greens, hand water as needed, and continue the applications of a wetting agent to aid in the absorption of water by the growing medium. Bermuda grass can be harmed from extreme cold temperatures and maintaining adequate moisture in the growing medium will help buffer the extreme drops in temperature that we may experience.
Over the next month the grounds crew will also be busy replacing cart paths, installing some much need drainage in some historically wet areas, and replacing the fountains on 7 and 17.
The golf course has come a long way this past season and I see it only getting better. The staff and I have learned a lot about what it will take to bring this golf course to the level of conditioning we desire.

FROM THE GENERAL MANAGERAre we already moving into the Holiday Season? Wow! The older I get, it seems like time flies faster and faster.
East Ridge Country Club, your club, continues to be in great shape. ALL DEPARTMENTS HAVE GREAT LEADERSHIP and continue to show much success. Our overall membership is strong, and we are in excellent financial shape.
Our bar renovations will begin in early 2020, and I believe it will be a great addition to ERCC. And also great news, by the time it is completed, it will be almost 100% paid for which shows that your Board of Directors is being extremely smart with the club’s money.
Hopefully by now you are aware of the Food and Beverage improvements we have made at Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club. Roger Wilbanks, originally from The Cub and three of his employees are now part of our POTC family. You can now dine from Wednesday through Saturday at POTC and have steak while someone else at your table can have burgers, salads, etc. What a great addition - “The Club”, the name of our new restaurant.
It’s a great time to be enjoying your clubs.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and of course, if you do not want to host or cook, we will be here to take care of your holiday needs.
~ Ricky
