Happy Fall! This month, along with the return of many of our members that spent the summer up North, our Prime Rib & Seafood Buffets will be Returning as well. I encourage you all to call us and make reservations. These are 2 incredibly popular nights and we would like to ensure your table, service and quality and quantity of food is ready for your enjoyment and reservations help us with this tremendously.

I know it’s hard to think about Thanksgiving, it seems far away, but it truly is right around the corner. The club will host a full dinner for members, family and friends. If you prefer to dine at home we can help there too—Order forms will be sent out with your statements on November 1st - we can cater your favorites—all you need to do is pick them up Thanksgiving day.

If you are looking for a venue for a Holiday party the club is the perfect spot for a small luncheon, brunch or large Soiree. Call me soon to check dates as our calendar is quickly filling up.

The club will be offering a 1 Year Trial Golf Membership this year. Many prospective members are slow to join a private club right away. Typically large up front costs deter them because of the uncertainty that they will indeed love the club and use it. Many clubs offer a deal of the day and prospects don’t want to miss out and pay too much when they can spend less elsewhere. Historically, the trial year works because it gives our prospects a chance to get involved in our daily games, make friends, and establish a routine of using the club that they do not want to give up at the end of the year. This membership takes the pressure off and allows members to truly enjoy their membership. Please let your friends and colleagues know about this opportunity—the opportunity will be available to join through December 31, 2015.

We will once again be offering a referral program now through December 31st as well. For all prospective members that you refer to me, that do indeed join, you will be issued a credit to your membership account ($500 for a new golf member, $200 for tennis, and $100 for social). Even Better– Let’s make this a competition—any member that refers a minimum of 3 prospects that joins can compete—the member with the most referred new members will win a grand prize!!!

Golf News...........

The Ladies’ Member-Guest will be Tuesday November 10th. Play will begin with a 9:00 shotgun start. The

ladies will also have a practice round on Monday, November 9th, 1:00 shotgun. The afternoon

non-tournament play on Tuesday will begin at approximately 1:30 after the completion of the tournament. Please do not leave early to go out for the afternoon shotgun, the pro shop staff will make an announcement for players are to depart for their hole assignments.

The Men’s Member-Guest will be played November 13th & 14

th with the practice round on Thursday

November 12th. The format will be 9-Hole Matches with the Flight winners playing for the championship in a

three-hole shootout. The course will be closed for tournament play Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Teams will play three matches on Friday starting at 9:00 and two matches on Saturday at 9:00 with the Shootout

following lunch. We have added a flight for players 70 years of age and older who only want to play 18 holes each day (four 9-hole matches). The winner of that flight will also gain a spot in the

Championship Shoot-Out. Championship will be determined by a three-hole shootout of the flight winners. Teams will be flighted by total handicap index (Max 10 strokes/9 holes). There will be an additional 10% reduction for teams whose course handicaps differ by more than 8 strokes.

Our member-member October 10th is a fun event with the Pinehurst Alternate-Shot format. Both players tee

off, hit each other’s tee shot then select the best position and alternate until the shot is holed. We will have side games, breakfast is available and lunch will be served following play. The start is a 9:00 shotgun.

Tennis Talk…… October marks the unofficial start of our Fall season. This month should

bring a welcome respite from heat and rain. Tuesday, Wednesday and

Thursday are busy due to the women’s league play and the organized

play for the men. Please call ahead if you are looking to play on any of

those mornings.

The Club Singles Championships for Men and Ladies will begin Wed.,

October 21st. The finals are slated for November 14th. Please sign up

by Monday, October 19th. A & B divisions will be held. The draw is single elimination and each round the players arrange a convenient match

time.

The Lakettes Fall match play on Thursday is under way until December

3. Regular play will be interrupted, Thursday, October 29, for the

Halloween Round-Robin.

The Pinellas TeamTennisJuniorLeague.com will play on Sundays at 1:30.

Courts may be reserved occasionally for this event.

Men’s Tuesday and Friday Groups can only be signed up for in the tennis

shop, not on line. If you forget to sign up, just show up by 9:00.

A Lakettes’ Friday group has been added to the Tuesday group. Play

starts at 9:00. Sign up in the tennis shop.

A new tennis towel is on sale in the tennis shop for $12.00. In addition

to the club emblem, at the bottom is written, “Sam Vuille Tennis

Center.”
