As summer begins many of you are getting ready for vacations. When one plans a vaca-tion, there are a lot of questions that needs to be answered: “Where are we going?” “How long can we stay?” “Do we have enough money?” “Who is going to look after the pets?”

However, there is one question that is rarely asked: “Where is the nearest church?”

Far too often in our lives, going on vacation means taking a break from church (and from God).

There are reasonable explanations why many Christians do not visit a new church while on vacation:

“We don’t know anyone” “We don’t know anything about their worship style.” “We are afraid if we sign anything we will get deluged with invitations and newsletters.” “It’s not our church.”

All good points, but can’t we take a few minutes during our vacation and tell God we appreciate all He gives us, including the

As you go on your vacations this summer, I encourage you to worship at a church at or near your vacation locale. By going to church while on vacation, you are letting God know that while you might need to get away from the hustles and bustles of life, that you are glad God is along for the ride!

I began worship-i n g a t S t . Paul's about 1995 and have been a member s ince 2001. I became active in many ministries here at St. Paul's since the

weekend I attended Via de Cristo in the Spring of 2006. My first calling was to youth ministry and have been part of many mission trips including driving the bus. Once a month, I have taken part and served with a team at the Monday Night Community Dinner, previously known as First Fruits Minis-try. Since the activation of Men in Mis-sion here at St. Paul's, I have been an active member, coordinate the month-ly meetings and have attended two annual gatherings. We have become charter members of the NC Lutheran Men in Mission. I am currently serving on the Youth and Family along with Property Ministry Teams. My wife, Susan, and I have found a home at St. Paul's and plan to serve for many years to come. I look forward to serv-ing with Pastor Jonathan and the rest of council as we forge into our future here at St. Paul's.

Good News! During Lent, WELCA Circle #4 collected spare change. They were able to make a donation of $100 to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard after Easter. They would like to invite all the Women of St. Paul’s to "just say No to cooking” and join them in eating out for their summer meetings. R S V P t o K a t h y P a r k e r ([email protected] or 686-5904) so she can reserve your seat.

June 6 Boathouse Restaurant, 6328 Oleander Dr., rsvp by May 29.

July 11 Rucker John’s Restaurant, 5564 Carolina Beach Rd. rsvp by June 26.

August 1 Henry’s Restaurant, 2508 Independence Blvd., rsvp by July 26.

July 23rd – July 29th : This year’s mis-sion trip will be at Western Caroli-na. There the youth will be able to come alongside a local ministry for children with special needs and serve by improving and remodeling housing, program and recreational facilities. Please see Pastor Jonathan or Jessica Parker if you are interested in donat-ing to this great mission!
