Thank you for joining us to launch
Financial support:
• Expenses upon unexpectedly losing a child are unpredictable and astronomical. Even with prudent planning, there is no way to fully prepare for such a loss.
• Immediate goal: Create an endowment fund to award annual grant(s) to a family or families without means.
Logistical support:
• A parent does not become an expert on how to navigate the funeral, administrative, and grief process until they are experiencing it themselves.
• Longer term goal: To offer guidance to grieving families who have logistical questions.
Our Mission: To offer support to parents who have experienced the unexpected loss of a child.
Community Outreach and Partnerships
Local hospitals (Kaiser, Providence, Legacy, OHSU, Randall Children’s)
Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood Foundation (SUDC): A national organization providing a centralized resource for information, support and advocacy.
Dougy Center: A local grief center that solely focuses their work with children who have lost.
To find recipient families, Buzzy’s Bees is establishing relationships with social workers, chaplains, and counselors at:
2017 Fundraising Goals
The money raised at today’s event, the annual mini golf tournament, and through donations will be used to create an endowment. The endowment will perpetually fund grants that go to families who experience the unexpected loss of a child.
As endowment reaches: Approximate annual grant:
$5,000 $250 to 1 family each year
$10,000 $500 to 1 or 2 families annually
$25,000 $1250 to several families
$50,000 $2500 available
Our Honey Jar
Although today is our launch party, we have been receiving generous donations. To date, we have raised $4,000 towards our 2017 fundraising goal of $50k.
