Update on FISP:• Waiting for word back on (Greg):
– herbicides adjacent to organic farms– disposing invasive plants in yard waste
• Working on FLEPPC session, let Kris know if you will attend

Invasive species know no boundaries. If landowners and land managers in Florida wish to achieve long-term success with regards to combating invasive species, it is critical to collaborate with all stakeholders, focusing on prevention as well as treatment.

1. need pictures from pretty much everyone.
2. Please ask for species lists from everyone, if they have them and haven’t sent them, please send them ASAP.
3. Matt working on all CISMA maps.
4. Should have EDDMapS up on FISP by the end of the week.

In small natural areas, all invasive species can be attacked and probably removed, but in large areas choosing one species is not a problem. Similar issue with FFWCC IPM grants and their priorities.
Central Florida Invasive Species Working Group
• Grasses Workshop - October 22 at UCF Will have 4 instructors including (we hope) Dr. Tanner. Classroom in morning, field in afternoon.
• CFISWG meeting scheduled October 6 at UCF
CEU’s will be offered.Ken Langland to speak on herbicide law and calculations.History of exotics on the Wekiva River and associated tributaries.Restoration of sandhill at Lake Louisa State Park.

EDDMapS• Will discuss moving away from watershed
boundary & toward 8 co. region (Jackson, Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla, Liberty, Calhoun, Gulf, Franklin).
• Will be partnering with IFAS extension to host quarterly invasive workshops (1 in each county for the next 2 years)

Green Swamp CISMA• Next meeting will be in May 2009.
Trying to work on getting additional members.
• Still working on project to recruit & train FDOF fire/smoke pilots to look for Lygodium infestations during over flights.
• Developed a poster that will be used to alert people in the Green Swamp area about OWCF.
• “Outreach Package” is in the works. Information will be presented personally to the extension agents and foresters in the six-county area.

• PTI Grant agreement signed and money is in the bank. Yeah!
• March 28 = held workday, included pulling ardisia, cutting Japanese climbing fern off the trunks of pine trees and cut stem herbicide treating privet, camphor, and chinaberry along Alligator Creek.
– While working the floodplain, they found 16 different invasive, non-native plant species.
• Paul has a test plot using Clearcastherbicide on Japanese climbing fern.
Bradford Co. Cooperative Weed Management Area
Initial target species:TSA, Japanese Climbing Fern, Chinese Tallow, Cogongrass, and air potato.
• Working on outreach and using every opportunity to spread the word about their CISMA– SW Florida CISMA brochure
should be printed soon for distribution
• Hoping to plan a workday this summer –location and funding tbd.
