  • Principal's NotesDear Chief Charlo Wolfpack,December is a fun and busy month for our students and we want tomake sure you have the necessary information you need at your�ngertips.     Please remember to call if your child is sick or absent for otherreasons. In addition, please do everything you can to get yourkiddos to school on time.With winter now in full swing, please be sure your children aredressed appropriately for the weather. We will not cancel recessunless the temperature is less than 0. We will take intoconsideration the wind chill. Also, please be sure to write yourchild’s name in their coat/hat/gloves. The lost and found bingrows considerably during the winter months!We continue to ask families to say their goodbyes at the door.We encourage our students to enter the day independent andcontinue to build those self-help skills.As a part of our district Montana Behavior Initiative (MBI), ahuge focus is continuing to support ALL our students throughschool wide celebrations. Once again this December we will beimplementing 3 school wide celebrations;

    An all school extended recess on December 6thAn all school winter STEAM challenge on December 13thAn all school winter games activity on December 20th

    New this year, our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) team isadding shorter celebrations called “Winter Wednesdays”- On December 4th, 11th and the 18th, we will have a brief schoolcelebration from 10:45-11:00am focusing on community. Please besure to ask your kiddos about ALL these celebrations this month.Thank you all for the continued commitment and support with ourMTSS systems at Chief Charlo, where EVERY student and EVERYadult matters! WHAT'S NEW IN STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, theArts and Math):Chief Charlo continues to make our students STEAM experience apriority at school. We have a December STEAM challenge planned forDecember 13th as well.In addition, Students continue to explore the “Arts” through ourdistrict SPARK! Initiative. Again, this year, local resident artists arevisiting classrooms and creating art integration lessons forstudents. In addition, technology will be an emphasis this monthduring our week-long “hour of code”. Students will learn and explorecomputer programming through coding.   • Families in Transition (FIT) ProgramThe Families in Transition (FIT) Program is here to assist Chief Charlostudents and families experiencing homelessness (McKinney-Vento Act)and/or economic hardship. FIT works as a bridge between thosefamilies, our school and district staff to empower students to stay in andremain successful in school as lifelong learners. FIT also providesfamilies access to community resources and services. FIT is here to support your family, because we care about all of our Wolves - BIG and small!!
