developmental regulations that would enable private sectors to thrive in the country.

Prof. Pantami commended the NCC management for what he described as laudable initiatives, which he said were in line with President Muhammadu Buhari's drive to strengthen the country's economy.

The Minister explained that the Strategic Implementation Plan of NCC (2021-2025) would cascade the national policy of Nigeria's digital economy plan for broadband penetration and effort to digitize the country. He took time to commend the EVC, Professor Dambatta, and his team for coming out with the laudable initiatives.

According to him, the private sector controlled the country's economy with more than 91% of national aggregate demands, which, in view of this became imperative for government to support such a sector in order

for it to be more effective in the creation of wealth and job opportunities.

“The private sector contributes significantly to the country's growth domestic project and it is playing a key role in reviving Nigeria's economy because it controls 91%. We have to support that 91% with favorable policy, friendly atmosphere and better legislation in order for our economy to thrive,” said Prof. Pantami.

Professor Pantami while appreciating all stakeholders for their efforts so far, disclosed that the performance of the ICT sector in the 2nd quarter of this year by providing 17.90% of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was unprecedented in the history of Nigeria.

Other dignitaries included the House Committee Chairman on Communication, Prince Akim Adeyemi, the MD/CEO GalaxyBackbone, Prof. M.B. Abubakar, the Chairman, NCC Governing Board, ,Professor Adeolu Akande and Mr. Bitrus Bako, the Perm. Sec. Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, among others who graced the occasion.

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, has said that the Strategic Vision (Implementation) Plan (SVP) 2021-2025 of the commission was aimed to facilitates broadband penetration, improve the quality of service and promote ICT investments and fair competition as well as strategic collaboration and partnerships.

The EVC also noted that the new SVP which contained several innovative elements, was deliberately designed to re-invent and transform the telecom ecosystem within the context of regulation.

Professor Danbatta disclosed this on Tuesday during the joint launch of the Commission's Strategic Vision (Implementation) Plan (SVP) 2021-2025, NCC podcast and compendium, which took place at the Communications and Digital Economy Complex in Abuja.

“To ensure strong commitment to its Implementation, the new SVP also has inbuilt initiatives, key performance indicators developed from inception and activities tied to an implementation responsibility matrix,” he noted.

The NCC Boss said in addition to other benefits, the vision would also incorporate timelines and provide a robust monitoring as well as an evaluation mechanism. It is equally outcome-based and recommendation-driven with follow up actions, which would guide the Commission in operationalizing the plan and assessing its performance over time.

He noted that the establishment of podcast channel “NCC Global Connect” was in line with its strategic initiatives with a view to boosting the corporate image and visibility of the Commission via the adoption of innovative channels of communication by reaching out to various stakeholders within and outside the country.

“The book, titled: Catalysing Nigeria's Socio-Economic Transformation through Broadband Infrastructure, brought to the fore the centrality of broadband in our journey to a modern digital economy,” he explained.

Prof. Danbatta expressed ardent commitment to lead the Commission to continuously to live up to its mandate in facilitating broadband deployment, which was central to diversifying the Nigeria economy and for national development in line with the National Digital Economy agenda.

Launching the vision, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, disclosed that the Federal Government had pledged to provide a conducive environment through strategic national policies and
