We are also gearing up for some more fun at the Thunderbolt’s Festival and our Christmas Concert. Yes – Christmas is almost here!

You may have noticed we have had a few educator changes. We recently said farewell to Grant who has been with TG’s for many years. It was very sad to see him go but we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.

We are also excited to have a few new faces with us. We recently welcomed back Skye, who has been on maternity leave with her twins. Skye will be covering Educator RDO’s on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We are also excited to be welcoming back Anji during the holidays.

We also have two brand new Educators, Kerry and Bek. Kerry has lots of experience in childcare and has been a fantastic addition to our nursery. TG’s will be open During the Christmas period.

We have listened to your feedback and are pleased to say we will stay open during the Christmas period. We will only close for public holidays.

If you plan to be away during this time, please let us know so we can adjust our staffing levels.

Even though the weather has been warming up we are still in the cold and flu season. If your child needs to have Panadol before arrival or during the day they are clearly too unwell to be at TG’s. The child may appear to be well while medicated, but once this wears off educators are forced into a situation where children have high temperatures and are extremely unwell. What we have been up to...

The mini Olympics have been celebrated over the period of a week from the 15th to 19th of August. The children all had lots of fun participating in the activities including equestrian, obstacle courses, running races and long jump. Everyone received a gold medal in honour of enthusiastic participation.

Thank you to Ellen and her Mum Amanda for collecting tadpoles for us. They are of different development stages so we are enjoying watching them grow into frogs. The children have been drawing the life cycle of a frog.

Mini Olypmics

Observing TadpolesThank you to Lola’s Mum Sally for coming in on Mondays to read to us. Sally has been reading stories to us about feelings.

We all appreciate family input where ever possible, so if you have any spare time during a day where you would like to come and share a story or an activity with us and your child please feel free to come in.

On the 14th of September we celebrated Super Hero Day. This is a fun day to celebrate the awesome effort our super educators do at TG’s every day. This career can be challenging and rewarding, but recognition for early childhood educators can go unnoticed. We need to celebrate our aweome super taleneted educators who are laying the foundation stones for each and every child to succeed and develop.

We are looking forward to ...

We have been invited to put a float into the Thunderbolts Festival Parade - Saturday 29th October 2016. We will be organising a boat for the parade, and are inviting as many families as possible to join us on the walk through town, ending up at Alma Park. Meeting at 10.15am in Park Street – between Bridge and Queen Street. (Parade starts at 10.30am). This year’s theme is “All Things Gold”. We are putting our very own twist into this theme and asking children to dress up as minions or in all things gold. -Be as creative as you want. Please let staff know if you will be able to attend.

Please note: children will require adult supervision in the parade. Adults are welcome to dress up too!

Farewell GrantWe have loved our time working and playing with Grant at both Armidale and Uralla centre. Grant started at Armidale TG’s as a trainee and continued his employment working with Meg in Preschool room before coming to Uralla TG’s to again work with our awesome director Meg in our Uralla Preschool room. We are sad to see him go but wish him well in his new career chapter.

Impetigo - With the Spring season comes warmer weather and also a bigger risk of impetigo. Impetigo is an infection of the skin and is often called ‘school sores’. Impetigo is very easily spread. If either parent or TG’s Child Care Educators suspect your child could have impetigo we will ask that you take your child to the Dr’s to be examined. Exclude until appropriate antibiotic treatment has started. Any sores on exposed skin should be covered with a watertight dressing.

Flu Season - Please remember the flu season is still upon us! In our Preschool and Nursery we have been practicing blowing our noses and catching our coughs in our arms near the elbow area. Then we need to remember to wash our hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds. We can sing a song whilst doing this. We like to sing twinkle, twinkle little star.

The Australian Government National Health and Medical Research Council recommend exclusion until

the person is well. Masking your child’s condition with Panadol and Nurofen does nothing to help improve your child but instead allows the flu to affect more children and staff.

the T & G behind TG’s!

If you’re child has had a temperature, vomiting or diarrhea in the 24hrs before they are due to come to TG’s we ask that you keep them at home. If they are just plain miserable and are not going to enjoy the day at TG’s it

is best to keep them at home.

KerryEarly childhood became a passion at an early age. I love seeing what children are capable of doing and what they can teach me. I have been an Early Childhood Educator for nearly 20 years and completed my diploma in 2002.

I also have four of my own children. Three sons aged 7, 8 and 9, as well as a daughter aged 13.

I hope that I can share my wealth of knowledge and ideas with the Uralla TG’s Team.

Happy Birthday from your friends at TG’s.

Ingredients1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup citric acid

1/2 cup Epsom salts 1 tsp. water

2 tsp. essential oil 3 tsp. oil (olive oil)

food colouring (any colour)

Try this at homeMake your own bath bomb

Method1) Place the dry ingredients in a bowl and then mix them all evenly with the whisk.

2) In a separate container, mix the liquid ingredients together. Note that in this step, the essential oils, fragrances and colors are added. This is an important step! Make sure to pick out lots of fragrance oils to try out here, as you can make many fabulous combinations for bath time. Lavender bath bombs for relaxation and sleep, perhaps tinted purple. Ylang Ylang and bergamot for a sensual bath bomb, perhaps even add some rose. Tint this one pink. Just some thoughts

3) Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry mix, one small spoon at a time.

4) When well mixed, you simply pack this mixture into a bath bomb mold and pack tightly, then let it dry. Work quickly so as not to let the bath bom mixture dry out.
