A Know-How Center of International Caliber The Technology and Research Center (TFZ) at the Tech- nopol Wiener Neustadt is home to scientific facilities such as three COMET competence centers, an institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, a department of the Austrian Institute of Technology, the R&D subsidi- aries of the University of Applied Sciences, the surface technology department of the ofi Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology as well as other R&D institutions and high-tech companies. At present, around 350 highly-qualified scientists are working at this specially designed facility, addressing the challen- ges of modern science and technology. The TFZ is remarkably international: researchers from over than 20 and students from over 60 countries work at the Technopol (TFZ, University of Applied Sciences and in industry). Wiener Neustadt is the largest Techno- pol location in Lower Austria and provides support in the areas of research, education and high-tech indus- try. Tenants at the TFZ are integrative components of the Lower Austria Technopol Program. Available Space The TFZ has been built and expanded step by step with its occupants. With a gross fl oor area of 19,000 m2 (approx. 204,500 f2), around 11,600 m2 (124,900 f2) are available for lease as lab or offi ce space. To meet the steady demand for additional space, a custom expan-sion is set to take place in 2011 to create an additional 4,300 m2 (approx. 46,300 f2) space.
