Teaching Text Structures

Use read aloud strategy to discuss

text structures.

Have a text structure treasure

hunt. Create a class tree map chart sorting the passages found in

the treasure hunt.

Use the macs to have students find a news article online. Then let them

identify and share what text structure it is with the class. Make them SHARE and

DEFEND their answer.

Use practice MCT2 passages. Let them highlight the text structure and practice

reverse mapping.

Model the process of finding the transitions and clues to

structures.
