Texas (1836-1845)

America fought Mexico for Texas. After their victory, Texas became an independent country. Later, it became the 28th state of the USA.

Confederacy (1861-1865)

Like Spain, the US experienced a civil war. During this time, Texas separated from the USA and became part of the Confederate States of America.

United States of America (1845-1861; 1865-2012)

Texas continues to be part of the USA. Nevertheless, it still is proud of its independence and remains “the Lone Star State.”
