– Increasing use of (short/medium term) alternative fuels and of clean and energy efficient vehicles, and their integration into the transport system

– Stimulation of collective transport and of its integration with other modes

– Demand management strategies

– Mobility management, marketing, information and education

CIVITAS Plus – measure categories (II)

– Safe and secure road infrastructure and means of travel for all users

– New mobility services for more efficient vehicle use or ownership, less car dependent lifestyles

– Innovative telematics systems for traffic management and traveller services – Galileo applications

Cities and consortia

Leading cities: implement integrated approach, ambitious mix of relevant measures

Learning cities: learn, prepare plan, small tests

Consortia:

• three leading cities, at least one from new MS

• up to two learning cities

• focus on small and medium sized cities

• each city in different country providing added value

• not for ‘old’ CIVITAS cities, except ‘followers’

becoming leading cities

Support actions

– Support action 1: evaluation, monitoring and management support for Commission

– Support action 2: coordination of joint activities, dissemination, Forum and PAC

Participating cities will actively take part in the CIVITAS Initiative and the joint work organised by the support actions

Overall CIVITAS structure remainsA comprehensive approach involving an extensive “CIVITAS community”:

• local partnerships in CIVITAS cities – leading cities and follower/learning cities

• dissemination and Take up action– transferring knowledge to new cities, press,

governments, education, scientists

• Political Steering Group (PAC)

• Independent Advisory Board (CAC)
