Terre Des Hommes Core Trust Annual Report April’08-March’09
Aim : “ Terre Des Hommes Core is created for millions of children who suffer or die in silence who ever and where ever the child may be – TDH will pledge itself to immediate rescue , care and protection. “ The organization is founded by Mr. R. Chezhian & Mr. Gerd strehle in the year -1994.
Terre des Hommes core is operating its service in five District of Tamilnadu
1. .Tiruvannamalai 2. Salem 3. Cuddalaore 4. Kancheepuram and Vellore Districts. The details about the
projects are given below ,
Summation: TDHC President Mr.Carlo Crocco and his daughter have visited twice in all the projects. Mr.Gerd, Mr.Rudi and Ms.Doris visited all the projects. Vice President Mr.Marc and his team have visited all Tdhc activities. Mrs.Mirjam, Ms.Christina & Ms.Oliviya and Mr.Simmone, Ms.Sara Zerbi- Matt has visited their respective projects.
On 18th April 2008 karate belt function was held, 84 of our home children received their belt and
certificates.
July 2008 Mrs.Zhore has visited TDHC projects; she has given “First Aid” training to elderly
children and staff. And conducted personal hygienic meeting to Maya women.
Mr.Dragon from UK taught “magic” for 15 days to children on 26th Jan’09 children’s had a magic
show in front Mr.Carlo and all children. Fabienne Saraswathy has organized Yoga for all home
children and EIC for 3 months.
CLC & LLC children participated in State Sports meet for Disabled in Chennai on 10th Dec’08,
&won 7 medals &2 Championship shields. Children appreciated by the district collector.
Staff Training programme:
In sep-2008 our Director went to Europe for two weeks to participate and presented his papers at
United nation –Geneva about Practice of female infanticide in Tamilnadu.
In January’09 Mr. Robertil from Swiss has taken class for all in charge for 11 days about “Vista “
software and details, very much useful to all the in charges.
On 25th& 26th Feb-09 TDHC has organized training for all in charges, the resource person Mr.
Laxmidhar swain and Dr. G.N.Reddy was conducted training on “Management Personals,
planning , agriculture inputs in homes , self assessment of the in charges about organization ,
action plan for the year-2009” …etc was taken.
On 26th Feb’08 TDH founder’s day was celebrated by all the staffs and children in tdh core
together. This is the day for our president Mr. Gerd strehle’s birthdays.
CLC, LLC & EIC staff had exposure at MNC centre at Chennai, also training given to staff at
LLC and the faculties were invited from “National Institute for the Empowerment for the persons
with Disability”
Inauguration:
Maya new building was inaugurated and children went to the house.
In July 2008 Inauguration of Elderly girls Residential home in Puspam campus.
CLC new building was inaugurated by District Revenue Officer Mr.Thamarai on 25th June’08.
CLC 2 sub centre was inaugurated in 2008 at Veraiyur and Anandhal village for CP/MR children.
New Projects /Activities:
TDHC is the first organization in Tamil Nadu has initiated “Early Intervention Centre” for
CP/MR children in the age of 0-6 years supported by Department of Disabled Rehabilitation,
Tamil Nadu. Centre started as two centres at Thandrampet and Tiruvannamalai, each centre 25-
80 children are enrolled and getting therapy.
Centre for skill and Career Development: ( CSCD) new activities has been created in Jan-2008
for the grown up children from our homes above 18 years for career development.
Alaigal ( Home for girls who need care and Protection)
No of children at Alaigal in 1st of Jan’08 : 115 Children (new children -6 & Reintegrated-7)
Total no of Children in December’08 : 114 Children
Totally 183 children were admitted and 69 children were reintegrated with their family.
Government bureaucrat Visit:
On 25th Feb’09, Mr. Agnihothri, IAS, Commissioner of Human Rights from Central Govt., Delhi
has visited alaigal homes and given feed back positively.
Psychological counseling for children:
Psychology counseling was organized to alaigal girls come out from their adolescent crises. For
this appointed Psychologist consultant Mr.Kathiravan, HOD of Psychology depart., at Annamalai
University. He is visiting the children twice in a month. After this counseling
General Information:
Durgalakshmi ( alai (100) is completed diploma in nursing and got a job at Chennai. Alai059 :
G. Tharageshwari has completed industrial training course (ITI) got a job in Pondicherry.
Ms. Bhuvaneshwari is attended a certificate course training at social defense Delhi on 25th May-
08 for two weeks.
Problems / issues:
In feb-08 three girls were taken poison after immediate treatment, they are fine.
May-08 ( alai -124) Barathi was sexually abused by a old man and the action was taken.
Alai-105: Manimegali got pregnant by her uncle, when she went to summer holidays to her
sister’s house and after we found and was terminated legally with consent of her and her mother.

Child abuse:
In August’08 we heard shock news
that Leealvathy’s was sexually abused
by her relative an old man, before she
coming to Matt home. After we
collected all the information our staff
went to that man house and threatened
him, his wife was begging to leave
him. Leelavathy was very calm, not
mingling with others, then we have
taken her to Psychologist, after
treatment she was totally changed,
mingling with others.
General Information:
In Sep’08, Tuition teacher Ms.Rekha
was appointed for taking evening class for children new house mother Samarasam was appointed
in Dec’08.
From Jan’09 onwards extra curricular activities has been organized for children. 15 children are
going for swimming class & 20 of them going for Karate class.
Children Tour:
First time Matt Children went for 3 days tour to Kodaikanal on 30th & 31st Oct’08 and 1st of
Nov’08. They all enjoyed the hill station.
MDM Children Home - Vellore (Boys home for Children in need of Care and Protection)
Total number of children at MDMCH end of March’08 - 11 (new-10 & Reintegration – 1)

General Information:On 15th Feb’09 we have organized free yoga camp for children.
Venkatesan 1st prize & Shanthakumar 2nd prize won in Drawing competition & won I prize.
Mrs.Selvi, Cook is appointed for MDM Children home on 13 .06.2008.
From June’08 onwards first floor house also has been taken for children.
Behavior Problem: In May’08, again Manigandan was stealing money from his room mate
Rs.5000/ & Rs.3000/-from a man in shop. He was purchased 2 cell phones & he ran away from
the ITI and went some where. The ITI is not interest to allow him in their institute.
Children Training: Children from MDMCH Venktatesan, Narayanan, Kumar & Nandhakumar
was attending Child Rights training on 27th Sep’08 at Don Bosco School at Vellore.
Health:
Sabesh was suffering from small pox in May’08. On 13/08/08-MDMCH 002 Arjun had fracture,
applied POP for 4 weeks, he was recovered fully. Muthu has abscess in his neck; he underwent
surgery on 30th Dec’08. His abscess was taken to biopsy test, result that shows that he has
tuberculosis. He has to take tuberculosis medicine for 6 month.
Sad News about ESP Child: Our exceptional support child Kasthuri HIV/AIDS infected for ESP
support, she was passed away due to severe sickness on 20.02.2008. Maya

New house with Play Equipments:
In March 2008 children are entering in to
maya , Playing equipments i.e slide, swing,
sea saw, trampoline, merry go round, rob
rider were installed for children playing.
Medical News:
On 29th April’08 Pownkumar had swelling
in his chest due to hit in playing equipment.
He underwent for surgery and done
removal of fluid collection at CMC.
On 28th May’08 Vishnu met accident while
he was playing in swing. His left elbow
joint muscles taken out from the place, 6
sutures applied, after treatment recovered well.
On 1st July’08 11.30 pm Saranya & Namachivayam both were suffered in fits immediately they
were admitted in hospital, Namachivayam was in ICU for a week, after treatment they cure well.
On 24th Feb’09 Ajith fell down while he was playing in see-saw, he got mild born fracture, POP
applied and he is under treatment.
Totally 11 children are taking ART treatment. Now the ART is available in Tiruvannamalai GH
before Nov’8 children taken ART at Tambaram.
Children Tour
The first time Maya children went for 2 days trip to Yercaud on 22nd &23rd June’08, children
were very much enjoyed.
General Information:
Mr.Paul and his friend have given gift as toys and crayons to Maya children.
Mrs. Swathi from Dubai is providing Rs.4000/- regular support to Maya and Alaigal children.
26th Nov’08 Sharmila attended a workshop on “HIV” held at Chennai organized by YRG Care.
Psychologist Training:
3 volunteer psychologist students & their professor from France came on 9th Oct’08 to 2nd Nov’08
to Maya, they were given various training to children and psychology counseling and guidance to
staff. They were taught this training while painting, making mask. It was very much useful to
know more about HIV to children.
Shocking Incident:
On 18th Nov’08, 3 thieves came into Maya home at 3 am, they have came inside the staff room
and stolen money from staff. Then they jumped and ran away from the place.
MDM Children’s Village
Total No Of children’s in MDMCV : 55 (Girls: 31 &Boys: 24)
11 new children admitted in MDMCV & MDM Boys Home, 3 transferred to MDMBH & 1
reintegrated.
Tour :On 27th -30th August 2008 all the MDMCV and MDMBH children’s were taken to Cochin
(Kerala) as 4 days trip. The children enjoyed very much with train & boating experience.
Counseling session
MDM 050 A. Ashok went for summer vacation to his mother’s house, after holidays he didn’t
come back. We found that his mother send him to selling flower in Chennai. After counseling to
mother he brought back to MDMCV.
MDM 075 V. Barani had the complaints of suicidal intention, for this needed counseling was
going on process with Dr. Ranganathan, Psychiatrist.
Special Permissions from Partners
We got special approval for additional budget from our Partner as Children Coaching Tour,
School fees, repair and renovation work.
Butterfly club: Butterflies club is the place for knowledge, skill, learning, entertainment, enjoyment for children.
Saturday and Sunday all home children are gathering together and involved various activities like
karate, classical dance, cooking club, sports activities, summer activities, computer class and
library. On 11th February 2009 Marathon running race was held, 15 children have participated
and 105 sports pants and 50 karate dresses were purchased children.

Health & Medical Treatment
Regular weekly checkup is done by Dr. Thirupurasudhari.
Pus 080 Suganya had puss discharge and difficult in walking due to she met accident in
two years back, after treatment at CMC, she is fine.
Pus 061 Kanniammal was suffering pain while she walk, she under went corrective
surgery at left side hip in CMC, getting improvement.
Children Tour:
On, 28th, 29th, and 30th Dec’08 Puspam children’s were taken to Kodaikannal and Madurai as 3
days trip along with Mr. & Mrs. Marc Deck ,children are very much happy to visit all the places.
Schooling / Education Sathiya admitted at Sri Ganaesh institute of Hotel management and catering technology.

children for the job placement, for the non school going / uneducated children we help them for

On 9th Dec’08 District disabled day was celebrated in Thiruvannamalai, in the presence of
District Collector, DRO,DDRO.
Success in sub-centre:
Free mid-day meals sanctioned from Government & free bus pass were organized for
Andampallam and Veraiyur centers from July’08.
Community contribution:
Community contribution of totally Rs. 8700/- was collected from local supporters.

On December 29th and 30th 2008, Psychologists from Chennai assessed the children and
counseled the parents. Totally 41 children from EIC, 3 children from CLC, and 5 children from
Sub centre attended the programme.

Mobile Medical service:
Tdh is implementing mobile medical service for the affected children. This team is going on
Monday and Thursday nearly 50 children are getting benefit. Child Helpline Service Child Help Line is working for rescuing children from trafficking, begging, street wandering, rag
pickers etc., Compare to last year child trafficking at Jawathu hills, this year child trafficking is
decreases in Jawathu hills is very low- in 2007 totally 88 children were rescued in 2008,
19 children only.

Success Story:
August 29th we found Mrs.Kamatchi, 35 years old, begging with her 4 daughters in
Tiruvannamalai town. Our CHL staffs were rescued all four
children. We interacted with mother and children, the
mother said that her husband was a coolie man in the
highways he died two years back in Gujarat. After her
husband death, again she got married her brother in law but
this man doesn’t’ like to keep children with them also he is
forcing them to go for begging. Daily they have to go with
money back to their home; otherwise the man will beat
them. This is the reason she came for begging along with
children for the daily survival. Finally, we have admitted
the children in our home (MDMCV) for care and
protection.

2. Maya-050- Vennilla – New house built sum of rs. Rs.30,000/-
3. Maya-040- Devaki provided cow sum of rs. 14,000
4. Our support provided to Kasthuri MAYA039 to buy a four wheel wood fruit selling
vehicle. Before she sold in a vehicle for daily rent. Now she is selling fruits in her own
vehicle and its cost is Rs.5000/-
5. We have supported to Varalakshmi MAYA022 has received Rs.5000/- for gold covering
jewels selling.
6. Totally 27 women are getting food support & 2 women getting house rent.
Training and motivation for women:
Psychologist Prof.Ms.Florance and her student Mr.Gerome has been taught immunity building
exercise for women for one month. It helps them to self motivation, raise immunity etc.,
From November’08 to Feb’09. Monthly one day free Yoga classes were organized for women. Mobility Livelihood Project Perumpakkam farm Development:
Presently 1800 different kind of plants was planted and growing in the land.
New plants were planted i.e Sandal wood, coconut, mango & jackfruit etc., Tassar Silk Textiles Production Centre in Thunderampet:
o Received 12,000+55,000=67,000 nos reeled Tasar cocoons fromWarangal,
o Andhra Pradesh through Dr.P.Jayaprakash in the 1st week of January’2009.
o 4 girls& 1 boy Ganesh all are working in the production centre
o Initiation for weaving activities through handloom and that is traditional weaving
machine. Now our team trying to modify and operate it by hand only.
Progress of Natural Farming: Azola pits developed in Radhapuram land for cows and poultry for increasing yielding milk and
growth of the animal and birds.
Vermi compost prepared in the land for application of very good yielding and growing of plants.
Bio Intensification Garden (BIG) developed in the land for getting seasonal vegetables which is
enriched with vitamins and minerals for our children.
Low cost and effective Bio Organic pesticide has been prepared by using natural plant leaves,
cow urine, with aloveera juice, it preventive as well as supporting for plants growth.
