The Stage 1 Featherdale excursion is fast approaching and payment is due by next Friday. No late payments will be accepted. Again I would like to state that bicycles are not to be ridden through the school grounds by students or parents. We have had some near misses of students nearly being knocked over. For people that can’t follow the rules they may be banned from riding a bike to school. Also the students not wearing helmets will not be allowed to bring their bikes to school if they continue.

Term 2 Week 4, 24 May, 2019

Principal’s Report - Mr Richard Ford

We are almost halfway through Term 2 and hasn’t the time flown by. I think it might be all the great things

happening at Crawford that makes the time go so fast.

Firstly, thank you to the P and C for running the Mother’s Day stall and the Mother’s Day breakfast. The

coffee machine was a real hit and it was a fantastic turnout from our families.

NAPLAN happened last week and it was the smoothest I have ever seen. It came across as a stress free

few days and the students tried their best without getting overwhelmed. Thank you to everyone who

made this an easy time in the students’ lives.

Our Aboriginal students have all been attending the Liven’ Deadly workshops each Wednesday with Jie

Pittman. They have been learning about culture, respect and the importance of being true to themselves.

On Monday many of the students will be taking part in the Sorry Day ceremony at Nurragingy Reserve.

They will need to be at school by 9.00am to make sure they do not miss out. Sorry Day marks the start of

reconciliation week each year.

Next week is the Stage 2 excursion to the Charlie and the Chocolate factory stage show. For all the

students attending, they will be returning late on Wednesday afternoon and parents will have to make

arrangements to pick their children up later.

A number of our teachers are currently undertaking Quality Teaching rounds. This is where a group of

teachers will observe each other teach and then give feedback on what they see happening in the

classroom. This process ensures that we are getting the best out of the teachers for our students.

Our debaters went to Doonside PS yesterday to debate that lunch and recess should not be extended.

They did a great job but unfortunately just lost out. They are doing a fantastic job representing our school.

Our Knockout Football team played Emerton PS last week. The game was played in great spirits and both

sides represented their schools to the best they could. In the end Crawford were triumphant winning 5-2.

We play Caddies Creek in the next round.

Last week there was an altercation between two parents in the school. I would like to remind the

community that any antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated at Crawford Public School. We have high

expectations for students, teachers and parents. For parents or carers engaging in the wrong type of

behaviour I have no hesitation in delivering an Inclosed lands act letter. These stop a person from entering

the school for a period of time. We will not tolerate swearing in the school grounds, any threats, any

violence and anything else that is not in the best interests of our students.

The Stage 1 Featherdale excursion is fast approaching and payment is due by next Friday. No late

payments will be accepted.

Again I would like to state that bicycles are not to be ridden through the school grounds by students or

parents. We have had some near misses of students nearly being knocked over. For people that can’t

follow the rules they may be banned from riding a bike to school. Also the students not wearing helmets

will not be allowed to bring their bikes to school if they continue.

Woolworths Earn and Learn has started last week.

Please put any stickers you receive in the box at

the front office. There is also a box to put stickers in

at Plumpton and Quaker Hill Woolworths. The

more stickers we earn the more equipment Craw-

ford will receive. We are aiming to collect more

than we did last year.

"Step into Stage One!! Can you believe we are 4 weeks into Term 2 already? How time is flying.

Students in Stage One have been working extremely hard in all facets of

their learning. In literacy, students have been focusing on improving their

writing through the writing process, as well as using differing strategies when

reading and comprehending texts. In numeracy, students are learning

about money, length and volume and capacity. Ask them all about it!!

They love to share their knowledge. They are also learning about the past

and present and are learning to make music using ‘BoomWackers’… So

much fun going on in Stage One!

As the weather is getting colder, teachers have requested that students

have names on their jumpers. Items of clothing can easily go missing and

having names on them ensures they have a better chance of making it

back to their owners. We appreciate your help with this.

Just a reminder that on Friday the 14th of June, students in Year One and

Two have been invited to attend our Featherdale excursion. The excursion

costs $17 and all payments are due by the 31st of May. Unfortunately we

can not accept any payment after this date. Please see your child's

teacher for any additional information required.

Keep smiling and keep shining! Dream Believe Achieve!
