Term 2 Highlights 2012

The highlights of this term are…

Term 2

• In Term 2 there were lots of fun and exciting things happening like;

• Circus Workshop• Maritime Museum Trip• Philip Dadson Visit• Beach Clean up• Performing Arts Evening• Our Marine topicLearn about Term 2 in Room 10 by watching this power point!

Circus Workshop

• We had George and Lil, circus performers come and teach us circus tricks. They also performed a show in front of the whole school.

• They did very well and we enjoyed watching and doing it. We wrote a recount about it (on wiki).

Maritime Museum Trip

• For our trip this term we went to the Maritime Museum. We went there to learn lots of things about the marine environment and the changes in them.

• We had lots of fun looking at the artworks, galleries and our favourite was going on the Ted Ashby boat!

Philip Dadson Visit

• Philip Dadson came to our school for a visit.

• He taught us how to make easy music by lost and found things. He also showed us types of music and important facts. He is a very creative musician and an artist.

• He was important to us because he is one of the 9 artists who want the Kermadec Islands to become a marine reserve.

Beach Clean up

• The Student Council organized a Beach Clean up on Sunday at Okahu Bay.

• It related to our topic because our topic this term was about the marine environment. It means our school became some help to the marine environment and the creatures!

• I wish I was there!

Performing Arts Evening

• On Thursday night it was Performing Arts Evening!!

• Lots of groups performed including Kapa Haka, Dance Group, Chinese Dance Group, Glee Group, Ukulele Group, Rock Band, Senior Choir and more!

• It was a really exciting night! I enjoyed enjoying all the different groups perform!

Our Topic this term• Our topic this term was about change

throughout everything but mainly the marine environment.

• We wrote narratives about our chosen marine creature, made a power point (on wiki), wrote a definition of change, watched lots of BBC clips of the marine environment and did more and more. We learnt a lot about the marine environment and I look forward to be able to present some facts.

• Marine creatures could become extinct in our life time if we don’t start caring for them.

• The Maui’s and Hector’s Dolphins, Albatrosses, Blue Penguins and other whales could become extinct in the next 50 years. We need to start caring for them NOW.
