Principal’s Patter: Congratulations to our Interschool Swimming Teams
The students who attended the primary and secondary interschool swimming carnivals should be very proud of their efforts. Thankyou
very much to our staff Mrs Murray, Mrs Aynsley, Mrs Shaw and Mrs Sims for their wonderful organisation and supervision of students at
training and at the carnivals, Jacinta Murray for some very valuable squad training, Mr Gollan for driving the bus all the way to Wongan
Hills, and all the parents who accompanied and transported students to these events.
Interim School Reports
Brief reports to inform parents about student progress over the first term of the school year will be sent home to parents next week.
These reports are designed to ensure that parents are aware of any areas of concern. If there is anything on the report that you do not
understand or would like more information about, please contact your child’s class or form teacher and they will be happy to make a time
to talk through these issues with you.
School uniforms
With the welcome onset of some cooler weather, our thoughts turn to jackets and pants and staying warm and cosy. We are lucky at
Beverley DHS to have very attractive, comfortable and practical uniforms for our students. Our School Council is responsible for deciding
on the school's dress code, and the P&C runs the very convenient Uniform Shop, providing uniforms at almost cost price to our families.
New shirts in larger sizes for secondary students will be available very soon, and jackets and pants in all sizes are available now.
The uniform shop is open after every school assembly, as well as by arrangement with the front office or P&C uniform co-ordinator
Kerry-Anne Doyle.
If your school uniform jacket should happen to be temporarily missing or in the wash, please wear a plain black or red jacket or jumper
with no logos or designs. Please avoid jackets with hoods as these do not comply with our dress code.
Special Assembly
Monday 30th March Special Start Time and Location: 1.15pm in the Music and Art Room
Our farewell assembly for Mr Norm Ireland will be held on Monday and will be followed by an afternoon tea from 2.00pm. All members of
the school community are invited. Please note the earlier start time and the different location for this assembly. Come along and wish Mr
Ireland all the best for his retirement – we would love to see you there. Please note that Junior Sport registrations will be available
outside the Art Room from 2.30pm on Monday.
A Waterwise and sustainable school
Beverley District High School takes its status as a Waterwise school very seriously, and this year our learning around water sustainability
will be an important part of the curriculum for students. Sustainability will also be the focus of students’ work with our
Artist in Residence, Charlotte O’Shea, who will be working with us over terms Two and Three this year. We received
funding to implement this project as the result of a grant from artsedge and we are very excited by the opportunities it
will provide for our students and our school. This project is designed to tie in with the Agricultural Society’s focus on
sustainability, which will be the theme for the Beverley Show.
The school’s contribution to water sustainability is being led by a team headed by Jethro Sleer, who will liaise with the Water Corporation,
the Shire and community groups in order to set the direction for a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable solution which will allow
the school to maintain and further develop its beautiful grounds. This project will provide a wonderful opportunity for situated learning and
environmental awareness for our students. We look forward to input from the school community into both the Artist in Residence and the
water sustainability projects in our school.
Enjoy the School Holidays
Thank you to our students for responsible behaviour, solid effort, and good achievement over the term. This will be our last newsletter
before the Easter break, so we wish you and your family an enjoyable and peaceful holiday time.

It was a great success and Beverley managed to bring home the shield for the first time in 10 YEARS!!! You should all be very proud of yourselves, your participation and determination and sportsmanship at the carnival was AMAZING!!! I would like to specially thank Mrs Jacinta Murray for volunteering her time to run some training sessions for our interschool team in the weeks leading up to the carnival. Our students valued these sessions immensely and it made such an impact on carnival day!!! I would also like to thank Mrs Kellie Shaw and Mrs Corinna Thomas for supervising on the day and our entire Beverley DHS staff for their support during interschool training. Our office staff are amazing when it comes to carnivals and do a lot of the behind the scenes work to get us to the carnival! Thank you to Mrs Jo Sims and Mrs Marie Carroll. I would also like to thank all of the parents and grandparents who came along to support our students in their races. We have such a wonderful school community and this is very obvious when it comes to our carnivals! Thank you, we are very lucky! Wongan Hills Interschool Carnival For the very first time we entered a high school swimming team into the Wongan Hills Interschool Swimming Carnival! Thank you very much to Mrs Sarah Aynsley for supervising on the day and for supporting our students with interschool training. Another big thank you must also go to Mr Stephen Gollan who attended the day and drove the bus! Enrolment Details There are various students at school that have asthma listed on their medical history/conditions section of their enrolment forms. Please clarify with our Front Office on 96461165 if they have a puffer to treat the asthma and if a medical action plan needs to be put in place. Students with asthma are required to bring their puffer to school and it is to be taken to all sporting events. ICAS Testing Registration forms for those students who would like to sit the ICAS tests this year are available from the front office. Holidays

A selected group of our secondary students combined with students from Mukinbudin District High School to attend our first high school interschool carnival in a number of years.
Our students swam in all races and joined with the Mukinbudin students in relays. Beverley/Mukinbudin came 5th overall on the day.
The secondary students would like to say a HUGE thank you to Mrs Aliesha Murray who worked tirelessly to provide this opportunity for our high schoolers to not only swim at interschool level, but also to have a chance to meet and socialise with other high school students in the wheatbelt.
We would also like to thank Mrs Aynsley who accompanied the students, Mr Steve Gollan who drove the bus and Mrs Anne Woods who provided support throughout the carnival.

News From Your Student Leaders
On 19th March our Student Councillors hosted International Happy Day. We started at morning fitness with a dance that the whole school joined in with. Straight after that, we gave out lollies attached to a special happy message. At lunch there were Minute to Win It activities and lots of music throughout the day. We hope we made everyone that little bit happier, even the people who came to school unhappy. The winning jokes of the day were:
An old man with poor eyesight walked into a bar and said “ I have a blonde joke to tell you!”
The lady next to him said, “ the guy next to you is a wrestler, the guy next to him is a mud
wrestler, I am a boxer AND we are ALL blonde! Now do you still want to tell it?” The old
man said, “ Na, then I’d have to explain it 4 times!” From Abbey Cooke Yr 6
“Knock, Knock” “Who’s there?” “Mikey” “Mikey Who”
“My key won’t fit it in the key hole!” From Oliver Aynsley Yr 2
What did the duck say when she bought a new lipstick?
Just put it on my bill! From Zoe Shaw Yr 4
Keep your eyes out for our inspirational posters. Hopefully they’ll cheer you up when you’re not feeling happy!

On the 20th of March, the primary swimming team went to the interschool carnival
in Brookton and we came home with the winning shield! With almost a medallion in
each age group, we did amazingly well.
Throughout the day we smashed many longstanding records. We were all well
behaved and were always cheering for our team. Even Mrs Ashworth lost her voice!
Thankyou to Mrs Shaw and Mrs Thomas for looking after us and getting us all
ready. Thank you also to the wonderful parents who cheered us on. We all had a
blast.
