Every Thursday excluding school holidays Time: 10am – 1pm Cost: $20 per week This weekly embroidery course is for anyone who has an unfinished embroidery project, a project they would like to start but need help with or would just like the company of others while stitching. Bring the project you would like to work on and be helped &/or inspired to complete it. Attend as many classes as you need.

Wool Blankets Galore with Helen

Wednesday, 21st, 28th March, 4th & 11th April Time: 7pm – 9pm Cost: $20 per week+ supplies Choose one of our many blanket designs e.g. Bullion Bunnies, Velour Bears, Duckling, Honey Bear, Australian Wildflowers and learn how to embroider it.

PATCHWORK CLASSES Wednesday Patchwork with Sue & Diana

Every Wednesday excluding school holidays Time: 10am – 2pm Cost: $22 per week You are welcome to bring any quilt project and Sue & Diana will assist you with design, colour, cutting, piecing, applique, quilting and binding. We use EQ7 for designing blocks, specialty rulers and AccuQuilt for cutting. Attend as many classes as you need. Booking is essential as class size is limited to 12 each week.

Tuesday Night Patchwork with Diana

Every Tuesday excluding the 1st Tuesday of the month & school holidays Time: 6.30pm – 9pm Cost: $20 per evening This is our busy woman’s version of our Wednesday Patchwork class. You are welcome to bring any quilt project and Diana will assist you with design, colour, cutting, piecing, applique, quilting and binding. We use EQ7 for designing blocks, specialty rulers and AccuQuilt for cutting. Attend as many classes as you need. Booking is essential.

Jelly Roll Quilt with Sue

Saturday, 3rd & 10th March Time: 9.30am – 1.30pm Cost: $80 + supplies A jelly roll is 40 (2½“ x 44”) strips of fabric. These 40 strips are rolled up & tied with a bow. They come in a huge range of colours and patterns. Jelly roll strips can be used to make many

different quilt designs. In this class Sue will help you choose an approprate quilt design and guide you through making it. Beginners to advanced. Sewing machine required.

Beginners Machine Quilting with Sue

Saturday, 7th & 14th April Time: 9.30am – 1.30pm Cost: $80 + supplies Learn how to quilt using various straight line and freehand quilting patterns on your own sewing machine. You will learn how to control the direction and length of your stitches to create an endless array of patterns. You will need a walking foot or a Pfaff with IDT and a darning foot for your machine.

Basic Sewing Machine Skills

with Helen & Robyn Wednesday, 21st & 28th February Time: 7pm – 9pm Cost: $40 + supplies This class is perfect for the complete beginner sewer. You will be guided through the basics of your sewing machine including threading, bobbin winding, stitch selection, stitch length and width etc. Once you know how to operate your machine you will be taught how to make a simple tote bag. Sewing machine required.

Beginner Sewing – Children’s Wear

with Robyn Wednesday, 7th, 14th & 21st March Time: 7pm – 9pm Cost: $60 + supplies In this course Robyn will guide you through making a garment for a child. Robyn has a few simple patterns to choose from including a dress that ties on the shoulder or you can choose your own pattern appropriate to your sewing ability. Sewing machine required.

Beginner Sewing – Adult Wear with Robyn Wednesday, 28th March 4th & 11th April Time: 7pm – 9pm Cost: $60 + supplies In this course Robyn will guide you through making a garment for yourself. You can choose your own pattern appropriate to your sewing ability. Sewing machine required.

Bobbinwork Cushion with Anne

Monday, 19th & 26th February Time: 10am – 2pm Cost: $80 + supplies In this class you will learn how to create beautiful bobbin work also called reverse stitch embroidery. Anne will show you how easy it is to adjust your machine, so you can sew with a variety of different threads and create something unique. Sewing machine required.

PERFECTLY FITTED Shirtmaker Dress with James King & Diana

Monday, 5th, 12th & 19th March Time: 10am – 1pm Cost: $135 + supplies Do you love the idea of making your own clothes that fit absolutely perfectly? Have you bought a commercial pattern and felt disheartened when you thought you were sewing the right size, but it didn’t end up fitting at all? In this class you will learn how to achieve a custom fit when using commercial patterns. We are very excited to have James King teaching this class at the Cottage. James has a Bachelor of Design and a Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology. He is a talented designer who will ensure what you make in this class will fit to flatter your body shape. You will be taken through all the steps to alter McCall’s shirtmaker dress pattern # 6696, to give a custom fit for you. You will then be guided by Diana through the construction of the dress with you sewing machine & overlocker. The pattern has various skirt and sleeve options. And then you will have a pattern for a dress, shirt and skirt for your new wardrobe.

Free Motion Flowers Cushion with Anne

Friday, 9th March Time: 10am – 2.30pm Cost: $45 + supplies Have fun creating felt and fabric flowers while learning how to free motion on your sewing machine, in an easy and relaxing way. Anne will show you will how to set up your machine for free motion sewing, discover the tools and tricks to achieving even stitches, and ultimately create a beautiful flowery cushion cover. Sewing machine required

Painting Fabric and More with Anne

Monday, 26th March & 9th April Time: 10am – 2pm Cost: $80 + supplies Learn how to change the appearance of a piece of fabric by the application of paint in a variety of ways, including block printing and stencils to name just a few.

MACHINE EMBROIDERY CLASS Premier Plus 2 Embroidery Design with Diana 1st Friday each month, February to November Time: 10am -12pm OR 12:30pm - 2:30pm Cost: $250 In this class you will learn the advanced design elements of the Premier Plus 2 software to create your own machine embroidery designs. Each month you will be guided through a series of exercises

that allow you to develop your skills and knowledge of the program and to embroider your creations. You will need to have your own software installed on a laptop with your own dongle. Intermediate to advanced.

PRIVATE LESSONS Time: 1 or 2-hour lesson at an agreed time Cost: $40 per hour If you require some specialised help with a technique, why not come and have a one on one session with one of our talented teachers. Whether it’s patchwork, applique or help with your Pfaff sewing machine or overlocker, we will be happy to give you some specialised attention.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS

Always bring basic sewing equipment to embroidery & patchwork classes. If you are required to bring a sewing machine please ensure it is good working order prior to class. A requirement list of specific materials will be given for prior to each class.

If an emergency occurs you can find your own substitution or check to see if we have a waiting list.Unless otherwise stated, the price listed is the tuition fee only. Supplies are an additional cost. Full payment of tuition fee is required at the time of booking. Phone bookings are welcome and can be confirmed with a phone payment using your credit card.A full refund or store credit is given if the class is cancelled.If you wish to cancel an enrolment in the last two weeks leading up to the class, we are happy to give you a class transfer or store credit. Due to the special nature of classes given by featured guest teachers we are unable to give class transfers, store credits or refunds.In consideration of the others, please do not bring children or guests to class with you.

Oatley Cottage Quilt Sisters 11 x 2 hours $150.00 annual membership OATLEY COTTAGE QUILT SISTERS is a group of enthusiastic and wonderful quilt makers who enjoy the opportunity to share their interest in patchwork whilst extending their skill and knowledge in quick piecing. The group is inspirational and each month both new and experienced members create many beautiful and stunning quilts. We cover a wide variety of techniques and demonstrate how by using the rotary cutter, specialty rulers & your sewing machine, you will be able to turn your stash of fabric into a wide variety of quilts. Oatley Cottage Quilt Sitters Circle is for all quilters of all levels of experience and you are able to work at your own pace on your own projects. Each month you will receive an original quilt design(s) with detailed instructions. There are also mystery quilts & challenges during the year. Oatley Cottage PFAFF Club 11 x 4 hours $260.00 annual membership OATLEY COTTAGE PFAFF CLUB is our creative sewing club especially for those who enjoy sewing using your PFAFF sewing machine. You will learn to master a wide variety of sewing skills for general sewing and creative sewing skills. You will learn the techniques required for soft furnishing, dressmaking, fashion bags, doll making, machine embroidery, appliqué, surface decoration etc. Each month you will be guided through a variety of exercises and projects to develop your creative sewing skills as well as developing an understanding of your Pfaff sewing machine. Other benefits include 10% discount on all PFAFF accessories and software, and special offers. Choose a class suited to your Pfaff sewing ability.

Oatley Cottage OVERLOCKER Club 10 x 4 hours $260.00 annual membership OATLEY COTTAGE OVERLOCKER CLUB will give you a hands-on opportunity to master your overlocker to give your sewing the professional finish it deserves. During the year, you will be taking control of your overlocker by understanding its threading, tensions, stitch settings, differential feed and more whilst serging with a variety of different stitches, techniques and projects. These include coverstitch, chain stitch, overlocking, rolled hemming, flatlocking etc. You will work on a variety of projects from dressmaking, home décor, bags etc. Each month you will need to bring your fully serviced overlocker which must have 4-5 threads & differential feed. You will need its manual & box of tools. Each group meets once a month from February to November. New in 2017 are beginner & advanced classes.

APRIL SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

KIDS CAN SEW CLASSES These are small classes for school aged children who are 9-16yrs old with an interest in sewing. They will require their own sewing machine for each class. Machine hire is available for $10.00 per class.

Drawstring Backpack (no previous sewing machine skills required) Monday & Tuesday, 16th & 17th April Time: 10am – 1pm Cost: $65.00+ supplies During the class the students will be personally guided on machine sewing, pattern cutting, basic sewing and pressing skills, while making this fully lined drawstring backpack.

Pillowcase with embroidered name

(no previous sewing machine skills required) Monday & Tuesday, 23rd & 24th April Time: 10am – 1pm Cost: $65.00+ supplies Students will learn basic skills of hand embroidery and machine sewing needed to make a pillowcase. This pillowcase will be

great to take to camp and sleep overs. Students will be personally guided on machine sewing, cutting, basic sewing and pressing skills.
