Teralba quarry is situated 20 km south of Newcastle NSW, on the Western side of Lake Macquarie, which supplies fine and coarse aggregates to the concrete, road making, and construction industries. Teralba quarry has been in operation since 1964, and Metromix has operated this quarry since 1986. The attractive and unusual toffee and blue colours of the Teralba conglomerates has made it popular for use as decorative stones in exposed aggregate for architectural designs. Examples of this can be seen at The Central Courtyard and Wally’s Walk at Macquarie University, at the C.A.R.E.S. Facility in Sydney Park Alexandria, and in many driveways and decorative pathways in the Central Coast and Newcastle areas. The unusual colour of the Teralba aggregate has also made it a much sought after product for polished concrete. Being a conglomerate, the rounded formations of the Teralba stone make it perfect for petrol tank installations and as drainage gravel. Our Teralba quarry also operates a pugmill onsite for alternative sub base and base course materials, in addition to modified and stabilised products such as sand.

Pick up: Minimum load size for pickup is a 2 tonne tipper.

TECHNICAL ADVICE Trained field and laboratory staff are available at all times to help customers with any technical problems. Comprehensive details of chemical and physical properties of the aggregate products will be supplied upon request.

FINE AGGREGATES

DESCRIPTION: Washed minus 5mm fine aggregate. USES: Concrete production, bedding of artificial bowling greens, in the manufacture of pavers, blocks and precast panels.

DESCRIPTION: Washed minus 5mm fine aggregate. Construction and Pipe Bedding Materials. USES: For under slab fill, water pipe bedding, sub-base for paving, and as Fill sand.

COARSE AGGREGATES (CONCRETE & DRAINAGE) DESCRIPTION: Washed and graded aggregates are available in the following sizes: 7mm, Sewer Mix (as 10mm aggregate), 10/14mm, 14mm, Xmas Mix (as 20/14mm aggregate, 20mm, Oversize (generally 20-30mm with occasional large particles), and 40/20mm. USES: Suitable for concrete manufacture (compliant with AS2758.1), drainage / sew-er / fill materials, and in waste facilities. Decorative stones also available.

FILL MATERIALS

DESCRIPTION: The - 100mm fill material is a graded non specified product. USES: Used as a capping material in waste facilities, fill material and sub soil replacement. VENM authenticity statement available on request.

DESCRIPTION: The 20mm sub base material is a 20mm minus sub-base product (not produced to specification). USES: It is used for Gravel roads, as fill material, for non specified road base projects, and under slab fill.

DESCRIPTION: Available off stockpile or at optimum moisture. The NGS20 complies with the AUS-SPEC specification and ARRB SR41 as a sub base product. These specifications are utilised by the local councils in the area, including LMCC, NCC, CCC, PSSC and WSC. USES: Used as a 20mm sub base course for local road construction.

DESCRIPTION: Available off stockpile, at optimum moisture, and various percentages of modification available on request. The NGB20-2C complies with AUS-SPEC as a base course product. This specification is utilised by the local councils in the area, including LMCC, NCC,CCC, PSSC and WCC. USES: Used as a 20mm sub base course for local road construction.

FINE DUNE SAND

*** CALL TERALBA QUARRY FOR ENQUIRIES *** This fine dune sand is sourced from a Metromix-owned sand deposit in Anna Bay. This product is not located at Teralba, however enquiries regarding the sand are taken at the Teralba quarry. The product is a fine beach sand (300μm). It is compliant to AS / NZS 4422 as soft-fall product for Playgrounds, and has passed all necessary bacterial testing to pass soft-fall requirements. Studies suggest that sand is the best product for playgrounds, as children are five times less at risk of breaking arms, legs or other parts of their bodies, if their playground has sand on the ground rather than a wood fibre base, due to the lower surface friction.
