Non-confidential abstract (max. 100 words): Traditionally, the textile production chain consists of a number of consecutive processing steps. The individual processing steps are often located in different region over the world, leading to mass production of low priced textiles in low-cost countries, inflexibility, long delivery times and waste. Digital processing technology (e.eg inkjet printing, digital cutting), digital order preparation (using 3D-scanning, digital sizing and patterning) and clients being globally active on all kinds of platforms offer new possibilities for local customized textile production with short delivery times. The project aims at the development of new business models for local production of customized textile products making use of digital textile and garment processing connecting individual customers with local producers using global platforms.

Application of an innovative process to obtain a green treatment of the paper industry waste,

transforming one of the natural components into a bio-material, and then being able to process

Research for increasing mechanical performances is needed for a larger market penetration. The institute focuses on the development of NRFC. Full project working title Circular economy implementation of poultry waste upcycling

Every European citizen consumes 20 kg of chicken per year. This leads to an extensive poultry industry, which produces 900.000 t of feather waste in Europe. This waste can only be utilized energetically in incineration plants. Therefore this project aims to use an eco-innovative approach for repurposing the feather waste as fibres for textile applications. The up-cycling of the poultry feathers includes the harvesting of fibres, the thermal conversion to carbon fibres and finally the implementation in three composite applications (SMC, injection moulding compound, carbon paper). Lastly a circular use of the newly created materials is investigated in large-scale approaches.

abdominal wall hernias (inguinal hernia, femoral hernia, umbilical hernia),secondary hernias

(post-incisional).

The project will develop functionalized bioimplants for the treatment of hernias and

eventrations in gastroenterology correlated to advanced surgical techniques that means :

identification of eventration, selection of biomaterial. The project will provide meshes with

high density and high porosity that will assure smooth healing of the wound.The

functionalization with natural polymers: chitosan, collagen, alginates by encapsulation and

dedicated protocol for incorporation into the textile material are in view.

Biological determinations and biocompatibility tests: mutagenic potential assessment,

sensitizing potential, implant tests: biocompatibility: cytotoxicity, sensitization, acute systemic

toxicity, genotoxicity, implantation, hemocompatibility, chronic and sub-chronic toxicity,

carcinogenicity ;hematologic characteristics : hematocroi, hemoglobin, leucocite, lucocitare

formula etc. will be provide. Pre-clinic and clinic tests will demonstrate the efficiency of

product.

Non-confidential abstract (max. 100 words): The main objective of the project is to develop customized clothe for those people who has skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, carcinomas or melanomas. The project idea is to obtain textiles with localised actives in order to treat or pre-treat this skin with dysfunctionalities. The developed functional textiles should include a traceability chip in order to recover and reuse them in further occasions once the active ends its functionality. Therefore, the functional textile will be activated again, in the same or different area, according to customer necessities.

Non-confidential abstract (max. 100 words): The project aims at the establishment of a flexible production chain in the textile (carpet and technical textile) industry. Due to changes in the market, e.g. customisation, just-in-time production and ever faster changing trends, the produced running lengths per product are declining, while the variety of products is increasing. Thus, the production chain and related production technology needs to be flexible in order to produce small lot sizes economically. This implies a reduction of set-up times as well as reproducible workflows. Since the current production chain is not designed for flexible and reproducible changes, a reorientation of the production chain is necessary to become equipped for these rapid production changeovers. Current trends regarding the environment require that the producers change to more energy efficient systems and reduction of production waste. Also this requires adaptation of the current processes. Main target: combination of existing solutions for a flexible and resource saving manufacturing of floor coverings and other textiles in form of set-up of a pilot plan.

Enterprises are moving towards Industry 4.0 infrastructure where applications and business processes are modelled on top of cross-organizational service landscapes. In order to take efficient decisions and manage processes & resources in an optimum, the timely provision of information residing in all layers between the enterprise services and resources needs to be established. Thus having an holistic approach to system integration comprising innovation and engineering, operation, maintenance, validation and business increases not just monitoring, but controlling and adapting the behaviour of resources, too. The goal is to effectively couple production processes with business processes. In the perfect plant, production employees have complete visibility into processes and can easily anticipate changes in order to improve production efficiency. Several technology challenges need to be tackled to realise optimal operation of large scale dynamic distributed systems. Interoperability is a major challenge in this highly heterogeneous environment. Large populations of devices have to be interconnected with supervisory systems and associated business processes. Scalable and modular architectures and platforms with real-time characteristics and embedded security shall be created and made future-compatible together with associated tools to manage applications. This project requires a diverse mix of partners that are strategically placed in several layers as depicted.

The potential of nanomodified melt spun filaments isn’t fully exploit, because the nanoparticles tend to form agglomerates. Because of that, the filter clog within a few minutes and therefore a stable melt spinning process is not possible. The goal of the project is the dispersion of nanoparticle-agglomerates with ultrasound in the melt spinning process, so that an additional process step is not necessary. To achieve this goal an ultrasound device has to be developed. With this device the Institute for textile technology will perform melt spinning trials to validate the functionality of the ultrasound dispersion.
