The meeting will depart from the usual lecture-question-format. Its purpose being to better engage all participants in a Global

Conversation. The day is organised into General Themes, with a few lead presentations given to introduce a topic in each session,

before opening into a more of a “round table discussion” - primarily lead, but not dominated by the panel presenters.

Key Note Address: Prof. Donald T.H. Tan MBBS FRCSG

Donald Tan is the Medical Director of the Singapore National Eye Centre, immediate past chairman of the Singapore Eye Research Institute, Medical Director of the Singapore Eye Bank, and Professor of Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore. He has published over 350 peer-reviewed articles in the field of cornea and refractive surgery, eye banking, and myopia (h index = 46), contributed 18 book chapters and is the recipient of over 20 awards, which most recently include the EuCornea 2012 Medal, the Arthur Devers 2012 Lecture, the AAO 2012 Distinguished Achievement Award, the 2013 Albrecht von Graefe Innovator’s Lecture, the 2013 Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India Gold Medal, and the CLAO 2014 Oliver H. Dabezies, Jr. Lecture. Professor Tan is the

immediate Past President of the Cornea Society, and founding President of the Asia Cornea Society and the Association of Eye Banks of Asia.

Lunch Presenter: Prof. Mark J. Mannis, MD

Dr Mannis, Professor, is the Chair of the UC Davis Health System Eye Centre, Sacramento, California, and has over 125 publications and five books on topics relating to corneal surgery and diseases. His research has included development of experimental antimicrobial agents and growth factors that effect the corneal wound healing rate, skin diseases that effect the eye, and outcomes of corneal transplant and artificial cornea. Dr Mannis is an active humanitarian, providing corneal surgery and teaching around the world.

Global Conversations: Prof. Francis L. Delmonico, MD

Dr Delmonico is the Executive Director of the Declaration of Istanbul Custodian Group,

and immediate past-President of The Transplantation Society. He is Medical Director of the New

England Organ Bank, Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and an Advisor for Human

Transplantation to the World Health Organization. Dr Delmonico is internationally renowned for his

expertise in transplantation and the instrumental role he continues to play in fostering the

development of ethical and effective organ donation and transplantation programs across the world.

Dr Delmonico will be joining the meeting via teleconference.

Closing Address: Dr David Schanzlin, MD

Dr Schanzlin is the President, and Associate Medical Director of the San Diego Eye Bank, and is former Professor and Chairman at Saint Louis University’s Department of Ophthalmology and former Director of the prestigious Anheuser-Busch Eye Institute. Dr Schanzlin completed his medical education and residency at the University of Chicago, followed by fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco’s Proctor Foundation.

Presenter: Patricia Dahl, ED/CEO, The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, New York

Ms Dahl has 30 years experience in eye banking, is a past-Chair of the Eye Bank Association of America and has served on a variety of key committees, including Medical Advisory Board, Accreditation Board and Certification Board. She is also a member of the New York Alliance for Donation, a statewide collaborative organization established to increase awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation, and serves on the New York State Transplant Council. Ms. Dahl holds a Bachelor of Science degree from

Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN.
