On completion of the module one should be clear aboutthe parameters required during drive test what does itmean and how much it is important.

Parameters regarding in windows like :

a) Current Channel

b) Radio parameters

c) Serving !eighbors

Current Channel

Definitions:

1. Time: It is system time of computer.

2. Cell name: It displays the name ofthe sector which is serving according

to the cellfile that is loaded in TEMS.3. CGI : It stands for the Cell Gloal

Identity which is uni!ue for everysector of the site. It consists ofMCC"M#C"$%C"CI.

MCC: Moile Country Code & ' ((()e.g. *&* in India+" M#C: Moile

 #etwor, Code & ' (( )e.g. (- for%irtel in Guarat+ $%C : $ocation%rea Code & /01121 )e.g. 13&3 inGuarat+ CI: Cell Identity & ' 01121)e.g. 33&&3+

Current Channel

4 Cell GPRS Support: Tells sector is having

G56S or not. 7alues are 8es or #o .4 Band : It tells in which 9re!. and moile is

operating e.g. GSM (&&; 3-&&.

4 BCCH ARFCN: It tells y which CC< is

the moile station getting served.

4 TCH ARFCN: =n which Traffic 9re!. call is

going on.

4 BSIC )ase Station Identity Code+ : It is

comination of #etwor, Color Code )#CC+

)& ' >+ ? ase Station Color Code )CC+ )&

 ' >+. e.g. 0@. It is decoded y moile on

every Sync. Channel Message.

4 Mode: It is shows in which state is moile

operating" Idle" Dedicated ? 5ac,et.4 Time slot: =n which time slot of current

TC< call is going on. 7iA. time slot no. of

T6B.

Current Channel

4 Hoppin" Cannel $ It shows that current

sector is having hopping feature or not.7alues are 8es or #o.

4 Hoppin" Fre%uen&ies : It displays no. of

fre!. on which moile is allowed to hop.

viA. M% $ist for hopping of that sector.

4 Mo#ile Allo&ation Inde' ())set *MAI(+:

It is the numer which tells from whichfre!. from given M% list for sector

hopping has to e started. E.g. & means

sector will start from first fre!. to hop.

4 Hoppin" Se%uen&e Num#er *HSN+ :

Indicates se!uence in which fre!uencies

are allowed to hop from the M% $ist. &/

02. & for Cyclic <opping" 3 ' 02 random

hopping se!uences.

Radio Parameters

4 R',e- $ 6eceiving level in terms of dm

that moile is receiving from the site.6ange of /2& dm to /33&dm.

4 R'ual : uality of voice which ismeasured on asis of E6. 6ange of6ual & />.

4 F/R  : 9rame Erasure 6ate it represents the percentage of frames eing dropped due tohigh numer of non/corrected it errors in

the frame. It is indication of voice !ualityin networ,.

4 B/R A&tual : 6atio of the numer of iterrors to the total numer of itstransmitted in a given time interval. E6is a measure for the voice !uality innetwor,.. Depending on E6 6ual ismeasured. E"g" E6 & to &.@ F

corresponds to 6ual &. Ma. E6countale and useful is up to [email protected] F whichcorresponds to 6ual of ma. >.

Radio Parameters

4 SI $ SI is a more sophisticated measure

which is dedicated to reflecting the !uality ofthe  speech )as opposed to radio environment

conditions+. This means that when optimiAing

the speech !uality in your networ," SI is the

est criterion to use. SI is updated at &.1 s

intervals. It is computed on asis of E6 and

9E6. 9or E96 2&" 96 ' @3 ? <6 ' 3> are

respectively ideal values.

4 C0I : The carrier/over/interference ratio is the

ratio etween the signal strength of the current

serving cell and the signal strength of

undesired )interfering+ signal components. It

should e atleast ( .

4 MS Poer Control ,e-el : Displays range of

power control from & to - depending uponnetwor, design. E.g. & means no power

control and 3 means level that is defined y

operator viA. @ dm less acc. To airtel.

Radio Parameters

4 T $ Discontinuous transmission )DTB+

is a mechanism allowing the radiotransmitter to e switched off during

speech pauses. This feature reduces the

 power consumption of the transmitter"

which is important for MSs" and decreases

the overall interference level on the radio

channels affecting the capacity of the

networ,..

4 TA : 7alue that the ase station calculates

from access ursts and sends to the moile

station )MS+ enaling the MS to advance

the timing of its transmissions to the S so

as to compensate for propagation delay.

7alue of & means MS in radius of 11&mt.9rom S.

Radio Parameters

4 R, Timeout Counter *Cur+ $ This

parameter define the maimum value of theradio lin, counter epressed in S%CC<

 loc,s. 6ange of * ' 0* in step siAe of *. it

shows current value of 6$T. Decrease y 3

ut increase y @. Hhen it reaches Aero it

results in normal D6=5 Call.

4 R, Timeout Counter *MA+ $ This

parameter define the maimum value of the

radio lin, counter epressed in S%CC<

 loc,s. 6ange of * ' 0* in step siAe of *. it

shows current value of 6$T. #ormally 30"

@&" @*.

4 MS Bea-ior Modi)ied $ This window

shows current settings for the moilestation" for instance whether handover is

disaled or multiand reporting enaled.

Serving !eighbor

Cell Name $ #ame that descries the neighoring cell as per the cellfile. ARFCN : Channel numer moile receives as neighor.

BSIC : SIC of the neighoring cell. R',e- : 6eceiving $evel in dm of neighoring cell. C1 4 C2 : These are the cell path loss criterion and cell reselection criteria. 7alid during idle mode

of moile station. C31 4 C32 : G56S signal strength threshold criterion C23 and G56S cell ran,ing criterion C2@.

7alid oth in pac,et idle and pac,et dedicated mode.
