The education minister credited the Chief Minister Mufti Muham- mad Sayeed for his support in brining the educational reforms and making the ideas a reality. “The credit for all this goes to our Chief Minister for his vision- ary approach and devout efforts aimed at securing the future of youth of JK and the ongoing reforms in education department were possible only with the sup- port of people,” he said, adding that the education sector has become a movement of people who have started owning the gov- ernment schools. Earlier, in his address, works minister Syed Altaf Bukhari complemented the education min- ister for rediscovering the Hyder- pora High School and bringing transformations in the education sector. “It was not the scene when I visited here on polling day (in 2014). This institution has become an example of transformation. Our government is making such positive initiatives and results will come to fore in coming times,” Altaf Bukhari said. He said two more central heat- ing systems would be donated to Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Sec- ondary School and SP Higher Secondary School Srinagar under CDF. “Rs 1 lakh each would be provided to these two schools and Hyderpora school for main- tenance of central heating sys- tems,” he said. Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr. Shah Faesal in his address informed that more than 6000 students appeared for screening test out of which 1200 students were selected under the program. “This idea was the brainchild of education minister aimed at keeping students engaged with studies and provide them free coaching for competitive exams,” DSEK said. He said the department has set up two centres in Srinagar district while as one such centre each is available in every district and ‘most popular’ faculty has been engaged for taking the class- es in these centres. “Besides, we have another coaching program for students from 9th to 12th which has got response beyond expectations. 1.15 lakh students are getting coaching classes under this ini- tiative as well,” he said, adding that the departmental initiatives became a success with the coop- eration and support of the parents and students who re-imposed their faith in us.
