    President of Reid, Murdock & Co., theollowing description of the building of The

    Barrel in Teenie Weenie Land was given byMr. H. S. Cunliff, Vice-President of the PioneeCooperage Company, Chicago and St. Louis,who made the barrels that form this unique

    dwelling in the woods:

    The main building of the Teenie WeenieSummer Home, consisting of a living roomand sleeping room, is 12 feet in diameter atthe bottom and top and 16 feet in diameter

    at the bilge or center of the barrel. The barrelstands 16 feet high and is capped with amushroom type circular roof, coming to apeak in the center and extending 18 inchesover the end of the staves. The liquidcapacity of this barrel is approximately

    21,000 gallons, and the measurements arein proportion to a standard pickle barrel. Thebarrel is held together with six steel hoops

    The barrels were set up first on their foundations.Then they began to draw them in

    and was built exactly as a pickle barrelwould be manufactured, without, of course,the aid of machinery.

    The first floor of this barrel consists of aliving room 12 feet in diameter at the floorand 16 feet in diameter at the ceiling. Theroom is 8 feet high. There is a spiral stairway

    leading from this

    room to the bedroomabove and is fastenedto the inside of thebarrel.

    In addition to themain door in front,

    there is another doorat the back leadinginto the pantry andkitchen. There aretwo 4-pane windowsmeasuring 16 x 20

    inches, which swing on hinges into the room.

    The second floor is a sleeping room andmeasures 16 feet in diameter at the floor andis 8 feet high. The ceiling of this room ismade up of the roof joists and forms a

    unique umbrella effect over the room. Thereare four, 4-pane 16 x 20 inch windows in

    this room. This room can easily be divided bya partition into two rooms if you wish.

    On the back of the main barrel there is builta pantry and another barrel for the kitchen.

    This barrel is 8 feet in diameter at thebottom and top and 9 feet at the bilge, andhas a liquid capacity of approximately 3,500

    gallons. This barrel

    also has a coneshaped roof similar tothe roof on the largebarrel. In addition tothe door leading infrom the pantry, this

    room has three 16 x20 inch, 4-panewindows. The pantryconnecting the twobarrels is 6 feet longand 6 feet wide and

    has shelves on one side and a door leadingout to the pump on the other side.

    In the kitchen we have arranged shelves andtable and 3-burner stove, all very compact.

    There is ample room in this Teenie WeenieHome to comfortably accommodate six toeight people for any length of time.

    They came motoring up to Grand Sable Lake with expert workmenfrom the cooperage shop.

    Then they began cutting windows and doorsand thingscommenced to happen.

    The gigantic barrels are nicely finished onthe outside in oil and look exactly like theregular half-barrel and the half-gallon ponykeg we construct for Monarch Teenie Weenie

    Pickles transformed into a home.

    The Teenie Weenie Home is located about100 feet from Grand Sable Lake and has oneof the most beautiful outlooks the writer hasever seen.

    It is the writers opinion that this is the onlyhouse of its kind ever built and the manyunique features about it, we are sure, willappeal to your friends Mr. And Mrs. Wm.Donahey.
